    http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18609289/lagerald-vick-josh-jackson-kansas-jayhawks-eyed-vandalism-case

Lagerald Vick is being investigated in a potential domestic abuse/assault case (allegedly hitting a woman and kicking her in the face), and he and Jackson are persons of interest in a vandalism case against the same woman. I don’t know enough concrete details to make any judgments (I don’t think anyone does at this point), but man have there been a lot of things been happening in Lawrence. Can we really say that all of these recent accusations with Vick, Jackson, and Bragg are false and just coincidences?

I said this on the last Carlton Bragg post but I’ll say it again, if this happened on a Calipari team he would be blacklisted by fans everywhere. Obviously we should wait until more info comes out, but unless the rest of the Big 12 is collectively trying to ruin their basketball program, something has to be going on. I know we’re probably tired of hearing about them but this seems like it adds a little more than if it would’ve just been the stuff with Bragg

Self even said he was going to have Jackson room with Bragg and then changed it because Bragg was a "bad influence" on Jackson. Now Jackson is rumored to be doing stupid crap with Vick. At this point we should bring back Perry Ellis just so Jackson can have someone to room with that won’t try to get the freshman arrested! Self has no problem suspending players (like he did w/ Bragg) but usually that is because KU is so deep every year. He has a very short bench this year, I don’t see Vick being suspended as well unless some serious legal actions force his hand. Self knows he is expected to win the Big12 every year, reguardless of how fair that expectation is, that’s just the way Kansas nation acts.

As far as your Calipari comment:

    1. Cal is taking advantage of the stupid 1 and done rule, no reason why he shouldn’t, UK is doing great with that approach. But it flies in the face of the NCAA’s (admittedly hypocritical) idea of "student athletes." So you can’t be surprised that people just Self more leaway because he plays upperclassmen.

    2. Both UMass and Memphis got wins vacated while Cal skipped town for a new team. Self has had no wins vacated, so the track record is in Self’s favor. Cal has been caught doing "off the books" things, so when rules are broken around him, he is much more likely to get heat for it.

Either way, it is frustrating as a KU fan to have such an amazing backcourt, an athletic highly talented wing and ZERO VALUE from our frontcourt. Azibuke was supposed to be a role player and took the starting spot from the senior Lucas in like 4 games, then gets hurt. At this point, I wonder if Bragg even stays in Lawrence after such a horrible sophomore year.

Self knew that the NCAA was probably going to suspend him, so Self benched him WAY before the NCAA told him too. Up to 15 wins that year could have been vacated by the NCAA if Self played Cliff. But he didn’t play, so no penatlies. Self has shown that he is smart enough to take action early to avoid NCAA sanctions against his program.

The NCAA is a corrupt governing body that wants to keep young black men from making money for themselves so they can take it and fund other sports that the public doesn’t give a shit about.  Why do they care about the one and done?  Because they’d rather have that money maker for two years instead of one.  That’s it.  All this nonsense about "vacating" wins and pretending that they weren’t played is nonsense.  Shouldn’t the fans be reimbursed for games that didn’t happen?  Wouldn’t it be nice if the NCAA returned the money they made from these vacated wins to some good cause?  The NCAA does not want to do anything that hurts its business brand.  The 2009 UNC team was 100% verified to have players taking fake classes for the sole purpose of keeping them eligible for basketball.  There is no debate about this.  The 2013 Louisville team brought UNDERAGE prostitutes to their dorm rooms…on campus.  2010 Duke’s Lance Thomas somehow ended up with a 100k loan for jewelry.

Those three titles fall could easily fall under the purview of being vacated, but they won’t be.  They won’t be because the optics of having three blanks in four years in your national title list looks a little bad for business.

Players will continue to only be punished when it benefits the NCAA.

He allegedly kicked a woman in the face as an amateur athlete. There’s no room for that anywhere in the world no matter what colour or race you are. Wrong time for the argument.

     1. This has nothing to do with race. Or are you saying Asian, White and Mexican players are allowed to make money and black players arn’t. No, the NCAA holds back everyone reguardless of color. Why bring race into a situation that is clearly economical?

    2. NCAA makes money off schools. Schools make money of players. Coaches only make money if their players perform to expected standards of each individual school. Players get a free education. That’s the clearly stated deal when you go play college athletics. It should surprise no one when players get the short end of the stick. Buisness world works on the same model. Lower level employees get the short end of the stick.

    3. All these players that can be one and done have the option of playing professionally elsewhere. They choose the NCAA and give up a chance at money because it gives them the best platform to showcase their skills to the NBA. It is a high risk/ high reward, year long audition. And a gamble that a few players like Jennings and Ferguson have chosen to not take.

    4. With the boost of communication due to technology, now everyone knows the NCAA is corrupt and only care about money, not education. My point is that Self knows how to work with/ and around the NCAA so his program doesn’t recieve any backlash. Coach K is great at doing this too. It is an important skill for modern coaches at the highest level.

I do not think that the NCAA is discriminating against black kids anymore than they are anyone else.  The real world outcome, though, is that blacks are disproportionately more affected.

I also think that kicking a woman in the face means you lose a year of eligibility, mitigating circumstances being she’s kicking your ass first.

I like Kansas, I like Bill Self.  Whenever there were Cal to NBA rumours he was my go to replacement.  I simply don’t like the scrutiny the players are under, far more than a regular kid.  And the fact that Anthony Davis brought 20 million dollars to Kentucky and he got a few college credits for his troubles.
