JM40ParticipantMitch McGary was once considered a lock lottery pick for this draft, as he has played very well the last two games against the best of the Big Ten (Indiana and Ohio State). I know he’s a long way away from being a lottery pick, but if his play continues into conference play and into the tournmanet, is there a chance he declares this year? My thought would be that he would have to consider it, especially if Burke, Hardaway Jr, and GRIII all declare. I can’t help but think of other young post players from top ranked programs who declared early because the rest of the team did (Daniel Orton, B.J. Mullens). They clearly weren’t NBA-ready, but teams drafted them in the 1st round based on size and potential. Any thoughts????

ASAP HenryParticipantI’ll be honest, I really didn’t expect much at all this season from Mitch. But the guy is having a very productive freshman season for one of the best teams in the country. He putting up 6ppg and 6rpg in only about 17mpg. Like it was previously said his 2 best games of the season have come again Ohio State and Indiana which aside from Michigan are the two best teams in the Big Ten. I really hope Mitch doesn’t declare this year and decides to come back for at least one more year. I don’t know if he will ever be a lottery pick due to a lack of offensive polish, but if he returns for his sophomore year I can def see him being a first rounder.
Also, who would u guys compare him too? Possibly a bigger and more athletic Tyler Hansbrough? Udonis Haslem? Paul Milsap?

BigChamp12ParticipantI like him…. he’s tough and huge, most of the times he makes the right play. Im not sure where he’s being projected or if he should stay. But sometimes guys look so much better when they have better players around them that can cover up their weaknesses. Like McAdoo, he’s a good player, but last year with everyone around him, he looked so much better because he wasnt the focal point. If Tim Jr, Burke, and Robinson all leave this year, Im not so sure if it will hurt or help McGary’s case.
So right now that’s a toss up….
About the comparisons, Im not sure about him being compared to any of those guys you mentioned above, but I cant come up with any myself.0

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantHes Tuff, and he has a good feel for the game. He reminds me of Kris Humphries. He needs to stay a year, maybe if they all leave he could show out next year and be a dominate player if he keeps working

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI pray he comes back…..So he can continue to work on his game..He’s so undisciplined both on and offense and defense, and his overly aggressiveness causes him to committ silly fouls…If he returns he’ll learn how to play the right way…
But if he leaves there will be a few teams that would love the things he has to offer….He’s a high energy, hardworking player that has a good frame, great size and competes on each & every play…
He’s alot like Rodman & Mutombo, those unique and unorthodox players whose positives outweigh their negatives……
But i hope he returns,it’ll be interesting to see him grow as a player…..

juice304ParticipantHe should 4sure go back to school. I could see him being a 16/9 player next year. He has played really great in the last two games.
The player comparison is going to seem silly but i think he could become a poor man’s David Lee. Lee was nothing more than a banger when he first arrived at Florida. Mitch needs to tone that body up and obviously keep working hard, but i think he has that type of potential.0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/06/2013 - 9:26am #745042
For_Never_EverParticipantHe looks out of shape to me and average.

SiggyParticipantI don’t think he declares this yr. I think all of the Michigan freshmen come back. I really like the progress that I’ve seen from Mitch.
Here’s what I wrote about McGary after the OSU game:“Another impressive game by McGary. IMO, he should be the starter for the rest of the yr, but I don’t think Beilein wants to start 3 freshmen. His combination of activity, physicality, touch around the rim, rebounding ability, soft hands and good feet for a guy his size is really impressive. He doesn’t look like he’d be able to, but he moves his feet very well laterally for a big. I think he’ll be an asset in the PnR game on both ends of the floor. I was down on him as a prospect after watching a couple of his games last yr, but he’s currently climbing up my 2014 big board. If he can get down that 15fter I think he could go somewhere in the mid teens or a little higher.”
__________________________________________________________________________________________I don’t think he’ll ever be a go to player or even much of a back to the basket player outside of deep post stuff, but I think he’ll be a staple in the PnR game. He’s got a good feel for the game, can make some deft passes and he shows good form on his jumper. I’ve been mostly impressed by his defensive ability. He’s strong with very good feet. I also think that he easily has what it takes to be a top rebounder. He’s top 10 in the country already in both ORB and TRB.

Im Your FatherParticipantHe’s going to be a 21 year old freshman, I think that limits his upside quite a bit.

Chilbert arenasParticipantHe better not leave after this year, he’s got a lot of heart but need refinement. Best case: Nick Collison

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI kind of like that David Lee comparision……

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI think Robinson might leave, teams like the Pistons,Cleveland & Washington will draft him based on his potential..And in this weak draft he might go in the top 5…
I’ve also been impressed with Michigan State’s shooting guard Gary Harris, nobody seems to be talking about him..He’s having good freshman year….

RUDEBOY_ParticipantMitch is 1 of the few players that can affect a game without scoring a point…
