With Korver headed to Cleveland it looks like ATL is going full rebuild mode and will look to trade other veterans as well. This increases the chances Millsap is dealt and there have been reports of many different teams interested (although the chances of something happenning at these places varies). Among the ones I have seen:

    1. SAC- I don’t see how this gets done. They have no spare first rounders and cannot trade their own until 2021. They also do not have the young prospects to entice ATL.

    2. TOR- This makes sense. Millsap would be great fit in Toronto and their best opportunity to win a championship is now. They also have a spare first rounder and all their own first round picks. Poeltl and Caboclo are young prospects they could deal. The hard part is getting the dollars to match. I assume Sullinger would be part of this deal for salary purposes, but that still means Patterson or Joseph needs to be included for salary purposes. Add Poeltl and a 2017 first rounder and I think this is a fair offer.

    3. Philly- They have the assets, but why waste them on a rental?

    4. DEN- Plenty of young prospects on their roster and they own all their first round picks plus Memphis’s 2017 pick, so they have the assets. 1.5 games out of the playoffs, so I can see the motivation. If they do a deal with ATL, I think they try to spin Faried to another team, so many options on how to create a fair deal.

    5. NO- Millsap would be the perfect complement to AD. They would likely have to send a first round pick because other than Buddy Hield I do not see any young prospect that would entice ATL. If Millsap will resign, he would be great, but if not, this seems like a dangerous deal for NO.

Anyone hear any other rumors (location or what may be offered)? Where do you think Millsap will end up?

Boston has to be considered in the mix when any big name player is on the market , but it really just seems like a natural fit for Millsap. They definitely have the pieces to make a trade work. He has chemistry already playing with horford and I think there would be a strong chance he would resign there after this season. It just depends on how much they would be willing to give up. It’s also possible they could be holding out in case an even bigger name (cousins) becomes available.

Just excited to see what we can get in return. A first rounder for Korver wasn’t a bad trade at all in my opinion. We’re rebuilding, so first round draft picks are always nice.

The teams I’d be interested in hearing from are Toronto, Boston, Denver, New Orleans, and Philly in that order.

Sullinger, Poetl, and first rounder would be huge. Some package of Jaylen Brown would be great, but knowing us we’ll end up with Jae Crowder. Jamal Murray would be a nice piece to steal from Denver along with Faried. Buddy Hield from NO might turn into a solid SG, but probably not  a star. And philly has great bigs and a ton depth in the front court (too much depth) so I don’t see a reason for them taking this trade. Damn I would love to take Okafor and Luwawu from them though.

I hate to break it to ya, but you really over value Milsap. He is about to turn 32 with bad knees and he is about to become a free agent. No teams would be willing to trade young promising talent for him like Brown, Murray, or Hield and the Celtics won’t give you Crowder for him. Something ideal for Milsap would be like Terrence Ross, Pattrick Patterson, and maybe a 1st round pick for him or Rozier, Zeller and a 1st round pick. That seems to be the market for Milsap right now.

Terrence Ross + 1st rounder vs. the three "young promising talents" you talk about: Brown, Hield, Murray.

You contradict yourself. These underperforming rookies are not worth more than Ross+1st rounder.

I would agree that Millsap age etc…does not make him worth much, but the key is more what Toronto is ready to give, what Boston is ready to give? and is there another team where he might get traded for contention. Celtics picks wealth and deep roster should let them make an intriguing offer, especially with Terry Rozier very likely to see a 4th guard over him on the rotation selected on draft night with that Brooklyn pick. Rozier plus one of last year’s stash&dash first rounders (Yabusele, Zizic) is an offer I see the celtics put on the table.

to question your actual bball knowledge!!! Clearly terrrence Ross is playing better now, but what you see is what you get with him which is not what you want on a rebuilding team like ATL, you want young prospects with high ceilings! That’s the name of he game Kidd! Also, you are overvaluing millsap, to suggest TLC and millsap even in a joke is a joke! He’s 32 and waiting on that direct deposit!

I think Toronto will offer the Raptors 17 1st, a future 1st, Powell, Patterson, Sullinge and Caboclo, Wright to match salaries. I doubt they let gi of Poeltl Casey seems to like him.

Theres no news of portland chasing him now, but they have shown intrest in the past, even as far back as when he first became an RFA, they signed him to an offer sheet that utah eventually matched. Id really like it if they can get in the conversation and offer a package of leonard or crabbe + aminu or harkless. The deal clincher could be a future first or pick swap if it comes down to it.

Milsap can really solidify in the present and would be a great mentor for vonleh as well.

Problem with the deal with Portland is that they signed those guys for too much money!! Had they not done that I could see ATL having interest in crabbe, harkless etc but that doesn’t help them with their books! They basically get two young expensive players for one old expensive player!

With Millsap being an FA in the summer and Atlanta probably feeling he will move on, I guess they are trying to cash in on him after losing Horford and Carroll for nothing.

Toronto is the best fit for Millsap but getting the trade done under their cap could be a stretch and with Lowry due a big deal in the summer, keeping both would put them well over luxury tax level.

Boston might give up a first rounder for him and reunites him with Horford and they have cap space in the summer to resign him. Danny Ainge could improve their chances this year by adding Millsap and still keep all his key assets in place.

NOP have all their picks due and could roll the dice, they have cap room this summer too.

Pacers have a bit of cap space next summer and could reunite Millsap with Jeff Teague to give Paul George a good supporting cast.

A total wildcard could be Dallas who might offer up a protected future first rounder if they felt they could retain Millsap this summer or he’d be prepared to opt in. They use his experience to compliment Barnes and whoever they draft this summer.

Toronto will gladly go.over the cap. Its not a small market, they are one of the most successful markets as of late. Plus its MLSE which is the Maple Leafsthe Knicks/Lakers of hockey.10-mil of luxary tax is pocket change to these guys compared to an Eastern Conference Championship.

Hawks 21-16 with a 6 game winning streak. They got rid of Korver, Milsap and Hardaway are on the block.

Hawks 21-16 with a 6 game winning streak, seems a bit unusual to blow it all up and rebuild when they could be looking at a 3rd or 4th seed in the east. A lot of teams would love to be a 3rd or 4th seed….

The salary concern isn’t if they did a half season rental of Millsap, its for next season when Millsap and Lowry are due new deal and you won’t see much change out of $50 million per season for those two alone if we use their teamm mate DeRozan’s deal as any yard stick.

I agree it is strange to be blowing up mid season with the team well place. They have a good young PG so no desperate desire to climb this year’s draft. Surely a play off run is better than a 25-30 odd pick from the Raptors.
