Dhph8711ParticipantSince Mike Malone is the new coach of the Sacramento Kings. Do you like the Sacramento chance going after Monta Ellis because they was together in Golden State and depending on the Tyreke Evans situation.

Velvet HoopParticipantSacramento needs leadership and team players. They already have enough me first volume shooters.
Plus, they have a 5’9 starting point guard. In your scenario they move Tyreke, which would create another small back court with mediocre jump shots. Now even though Tyreke can’t shoot either, I would like this deal more if they were going to pair Ellis with Tyreke. Even then, a better fit would be a place where he could be the third or fourth option on a contending team. Either first off the bench a la Jamal Crawford or J.R. Smith where you just tell him to get buckets, or get him to play along side a good shooter. I have to say that I was impressed that he become more of a distributor when Redick was traded there. I’m am realistic though, Ellis will not accept that role yet. He needs one more fat paycheck from an inept front office that is willing to overpay him, before he sees the door closing on his career and takes less to be in a better playing situation.
Although part of me would love to see this squad play, purely for the trainwreck value.

esperanzafleet69Participantthey can easily pair ellis with tyreke.. why cant that happen? they could make a trade (not tyreke) or just amnesty (they still have it) somebody(salmons) in order to sign him.
i bet ellis would be really good on the kings

KayjayParticipantIt comes down to the Kings, do they let Evans walk? Or do they bring him back for the right asking price by matching whatever another team offers for him? My problem is, Evans is more efficient than Ellis, and is younger. To me Ellis is a slightly richer mans Marcus Thornton. Seems like reach too, considering Malone is preaching defense.

esperanzafleet69Participantmore like a slightly taller iverson. have you ever seen marcu thornton play? he’s a shooter man. ellis is most effective in iso situations and driving to the basket. they are just completely different players.

220ParticipantOn paper Monta Ellis and Tyreke Evans could be an ideal fit together assuming the team thinks Tyreke can still play the point guard. Tyreke can handle the ball and Monta can score. On the defensive end Tyreke could guard the shooting guards and Monta can guard the point guards. In my mind if Monta wants to continue starting at shooting guard for years to come, his best bet is to play with a big point guard.

Velvet HoopParticipantI would like that if they had a Chandler Parsons-ish type of SF, or maybe Ryan Anderson type of stretch 4. Someone will need to keep the floor spaced. If I’m defending Evans and Ellis, I basically just clog the lane and make them make jump shots.

CavFanPRParticipantSacramento finally found a good coach. If they can bring Monta, they’ll be really dangerous next season. Demarcus is due for a breakout season as well so he might explode next season and get the kings into the playoffs.

rileymcshea3ParticipantThe kings absolutely suck, I hope the Mavs can get Tyreke out of their. It would be nice to have a PG that can average 20 ppg,5 ppg, and 5 apg.Beause he is a pg not a SG or sf

SportsNinjaParticipantAs a Kings fan I do not want Ellis. He embodies everything we do not need. It’s crazy the guy is allowed to take 3’s. His FG% is in the low 40s, but I haven’t done the math to see what it would be without 3’s.
The Kings are plagued by bad shooters and as bad of a shooter as Evans is, his 3p% (34%) is higher than Eliss’ (28%!).
If they have a back court of Evans and Ellis they should forget to pain the 3 point line in their new arena.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantAs long as the Kings have Evans, they will NEVER, NEVER make the playoffs!!! And adding Ellis, while Evans is there, won’t add anything to the mix. Malone would add Ellis, if they ship Evans off!
