TRC1991ParticipantWhat a surprise it was to see Michael Redd enter the game tonight against Charlotte. He was 0-3 but dropped 4 assists in 15 minutes…Great to see someone like Redd who is nothing but a class act and a career 20 ppg scorer back on the court
Now the only question is, will his return be enough to send the Bucks into the playoffs?

Lotto StudParticipantBest lefty stroke in the game! hands down.

TRC1991Participantbtw if charlotte somehow beats out Indy and makes the playoffs in the 8 seed, they will literally be the worst looking team on paper in playoffs history
Eduardo Najera – career backup; gives limited production
Matt Carroll – career bench warmer; gives almost no production
Shaun Livingston- career backup ; gives limited production
Garrett Temple – barely had an NBA career; gives almost no production
Tyrus Thomas- career backup; gives mediocre production
Boris Diaw- career starter/6th man; gives decent production
Dominic McGuire- career backup; gives minmial production
Gerald Henderson- career backup/spot starter; starting to produce but still on medium production
Stephen Jackson- Only proven NBA veteran; gives above average production
DJ White- career bench warmer; gives no production
DJ Augustin- career starter; gives medium to above average production
Dante Cunningham- career role player; gives limited production
injured: joel przybilla, kwame brown, desagana diop
ALL 3 role players who gives no to minimal production

Sorry.Winning.ParticipantHe is a free agent after this year right? If he isn’t resigned you think the Bulls will take a run at him this off-season to cure that shooting guard spot

omphalosParticipantYep, Bulls would be advised to have a crack at Redd. I wrote a post about it on my blog a month or so ago actually;

I think the dude has game left in him.

doubledribblerParticipantI don’t think the Bulls need another injury prone player. It’s bad enough seeing Boozer and Noah miss chunks of games. Besides if Bulls weren’t going to get McGrady (also with injury history) when they had the chance I don’t see the jumping over Redd. Even though Redd is a better shooter, McGrady is a solid shooter and would have fit them much better. Also, I guarantee the Bulls would rather have Bogans over Redd. Bogans is durable, plays D and is shooting well enough from 3. Everyone acts like Bogans is holding the Bulls back. I’m sure they would love to have an upgrade, but Bogans can’t be too bad. It seems like every good team he has ever played for he has started for, which makes me think he is bringing some kind of intangibles that other guys are not.

TallmanNYCParticipantGuys, even when Michael Redd was scoring 25 points per game, he made his teams defense so bad that he basically was only an average NBA player. Now at this stage you won’t get the points and the defense is going to be even worse. You can probably only put him on the court if the guy he has to guard is a short standstill backup jumpshooter. Since basically all the other 2 guards torched him when he was in his prime, I would expect now it wouldn’t even be funny.
Though maybe he got an attitude adjustment when the league stopped calling and he couldn’t even get court time overseas.

Bossy13ParticipantTallman, Redd’s been injured. He’s been on the Bucks roster for his entire career. But I do agree with you that he isnt a starter anymore and was always a lousy defender.

ChewyParticipantThe Bulls told McGrady that he would come off the bench for them. He agreed and so the bulls gave him a try out. Then he started making comments about how he would win the starting sg spot in under a month and that got the Bulls nervous that it would screw up team chemistry. Redd wouldnt mind comming off the bench at this point in his carreer I assume, so thats why Redd would fit. Plus the bulls team defense could make up for his lack of foot speed, as long as we didnt play him AND Korver at the same time.

BradfomsParticipantThe thing about Redd that confuses me is that he was initially drafted for his defense. He wasn’t always a lousy defender, and it was as soon as he became responsible for scoring 20+ ppg that his defense started plummeting. I don’t know if this was because he was saving his energy for offense, in which case he needs to improve his conditioning so that he can play both. Also, he did play for team USA, so his defense can’t be HORRENDOUS when he actually tries, because there is no way team USA would have taken him on when they have so many other players to choose from. I wonder if, in a reduced role in Chicago, where he isn’t counted on to score 25 ppg, his defense might improve. He’s also apparently in the best shape of his career, so who knows. We’ll see how it goes in Milwaukee to close out the season, but if he doesn’t D up, Skiles won’t give him minutes…though that team desparately needs somebody who can put the ball in the hoop on a consistent basis.

HitsterParticipantMichael has only played 52 games in the last 3 seasons combined so he’d need to prove that he could stay sound for a whole season to earn anything more than a one year deal surely. Other years could be team options so if he did come back and put up reasonable numbers then whoever signed him might have further benefit. The Bucks have missed his scoring but with John Salmons in situ they might decide it’s best for Michael to seek pastures new. Michael has spent all his career with the Bucks so there might be some loyalty from both sides,to move on would be a big decision as Michael might feel he owes the team something and may take a lesser deal to stay put and the team will probably know better than anyone what Michael could give them now and they do need some extra scoring punch. Also he may be very settled in the Milwaukee area and may not want to move on if he can help it.
I’d assume that he will get offers as he always seems like a class guy and he’s very much into his religious side so much so he paid for a church to be built I seem to recall. So he’d be a fairly safe choice if you wanted a very good veteran locker room presence to compliment a younger team.

iminipandaParticipantIts sad that he gets a bad repuation for being a bad player because of the injuries and milwaukee inexcusably giving him that massive contract. He really was a good player and a class act.

BradfomsParticipantHe’s not a bad player nor has he ever been, and has always been a class act. I guarantee he will be on a roster in no time at the end of this year for those two reasons alone. Even if you aren’t a Redd fan, you have to pull for him here. I personally hope he gets back on track and becomes an important part of a good team.
