I’ve heard a lot of arguments lately about the Melo trade.

I think that if the Knicks’ only option was to trade for him, they did the right thing (long term). However, if there was also the option to sign him in free agency, which would give them Melo without having to give away all the role players. Why didn’t they do that? to generate money? afraid he would go somewhere else? plain stupidity?

Watched a few Knicks games after the trade and they have no chance this year, so why not wait?

Because the Knicks weren’t gonna be a lot to get him as well as Melo wasn’t going to get the 66 mil he wanted.

Well Melo stated that if he was not dealt before trading deadline, that he would sign an extension with Denver rather than lose money during free agency. So the Knicks couldn’t take the risk of Denver potentially resigning Melo.

Honestly the knicks were afraid he would go to the nets(trade wouldn’t go down without extensions),or resign with denver. At one point it was RUMORED that he was dissappointed on how unwilling the knicks were to upping thier offer. Also James Dolan was pressuring Donnie Walsh to make the trade happen no matter the price, threatening bringing back Isiah thomas as the gm(which is still possible, and you can kiss your future goodbye).Knicks would have gotten deron williams though cause jazz were waiting for the loser of the melo trade(which ended up being the nets).

Really then why did give up 3 starters and draft picks to get him when, they orginally offered one starter, eddy curry, and a draft pick. Several Analyst stated the nets basically forced them to up thier offer, with denver threathning to send melo to NJ

Maybe….just maybe. Denver realized they had all the leverage? Just a thought. New York also fought for Melo alot. They wanted him like crazy. They may have told you Curry, a starter and a pick was the deal…but the original offer was always on the table.

knicksfan. I dont think the the knicks were scared of Melo going to new jersey 1 bit. If any part of melo truly wanted to go there then he would have went when the net sowner put that offer out there. Also the nets pulled out of the deal and started makin plans for deron williams for a reason. They knew they had little 2 no shot at all at getting melo

Yes, because we added another top 15 player. Once a offseason passes and we get into full gear….things will change.

I like how you said top 15 talent. I will give you credit at least your not that type of knicks fans that thinks every top player they get is god or something. You guys need to get another pg(future pg, should of picked branden jennings instead of hill, that would have been a nice trio), and a defensive center, maybe a new coach too(defensive minded). Hopefully the knicks get good, and hopefully the nets get good because I actually want to watch a rivalry.
