BasterdInABasketParticipantThe article says that a third team would have to be involved which would give its first rounder to Denver.

HitsterParticipantNothing really new here at all, the Knicks are interested in Melo and have talked about acquiring a first round pick in the past be this may a trade or taking on a possible salary dump as they are under cap.
If we assume that there are no other bids on the table then as long as Melo doesn’t sign any new deal Donnie Walsh can keep a watching brief and if teams want to dump salary next draft the Knicks will have Curry’s contract coming off the books so can maybe make a favourable deal or two like Washington did to get Yi and the draft rights to Seraphin etc and then look to use these assets for future FA moves or even do a S and T for Melo next summer.

NESTO1977ParticipantThe longer Melo stays in Denver the less they will receive. By declaring his desires destinations other teams will not give up legit talent for a season rental.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipant1st…Trade Randolph or Gallo for the 1st round pick they’ve appartly been looking for…A team looking for a Sf/Pf may trade a pick for 1 of those guys…But they won’t be top 10 picks or even Lottery picks…A Team like the Pacers could use Randolph to play the Pf…Several Teams may trade a pick 16 to 30 for Gallinari…
2nd…Trade the other guy, the pick and Curry’s contract to The Nuggets and resign Melo…They’ll lose 2 picks, 2 young Sf/Pf’s they’ve been hyping up for 2 years…Then they have to Max Out Carmelo…
This can and will happen unless Melo gets traded to an actual contender,..The Blazers, Lakers( yes the Dnyce trade) Magic…or the Nuggets take the best deal and see what they get…Would Randolph,Curry’s expiring deal and a Mid to late first rounder Gallo would get the Knicks to involve in a trade for Melo…The Nuggets would want another pick from NY…the one they have to swap with Houston comes to mind…
I don’t think it’s worth it For the Nuggets or Knicks…

HitsterParticipantFully agree with Nesto as teams would not want an unmotivated Melo for a season then he scarpers to another team but the trade would reflect that unless Melo signed an extension which he will only do if he gets a chosen destination and again commiting to 4 years and possibly going to the Nets who were 12-70 would be a gamble on his part. There could be an informal agreement with his agent that if he was traded and the team did progress quite well that he may opt in for 2011-12 which with the lockout possible could be in his favour and he could surely get an equal contract in 2012 and there may be more options available then ( Boston springs to mind) and the team who traded for him would have possibly got two years out of him.

NarcParticipantIt can happen, but as a Knicks fan I do like what we have. In terms of both Gallo and Randolph and for me it would be hard to part with one of them. The only reason this deal can happen is because Denver has lost damn near any leverage they had in any other trades. Their backs are against the proverbial wall and its going to be tough for them to unload him for good pieces in return. They have to get rid of him, because if he doesn’t they’ll just lose him outright, and it will be downhill from there.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey’d have to trade Randolph and Curry’s expiring to the Nuggets…Then Trade Gallo for a 1st round pick to give the Nuggets as well…although Signing Melo means 2 of the 3 young guys the Knicks are offering(Randolph,Gallo and Chandler) would have to be traded or let enter free acency…they would want at least a year or two with all them together…wait trade the Farm…wait for Free agency.
