Theirs very few players long term I like more than Marcus Thornton. To me this guy has everything capable of becoming the next Dwyane Wade. Now the comparison may shock some especially considered by most to not even be now the teams 2nd or even 3rd option he’s legit.

I got to watch a lot of Kings Basketball last season and have followed Marucs since his he was on Jim Calhouns radar. After playing two years of JUCO Ball he eventually went to lsu before taking his talents to the NBA. Marcus is fearless when he shoots it’s almost cold blooded with his shot selection and while his consistincensy could improve his minutes reflect his offensive production.

He’s a more than capable point guard who in college only turned the ball over on 9% of his posessions. While I do believe he will start the season on the bench for the kings in a move to showcase Jimmer and draw local attention to a dwindling fan base on an up and coming franchise he will be starting before valentines day wether it’s Jimmer not living up to expectations or Tyreke Evans and the case of Plantiar Faciatias. The same injury that plauged Yao Mings career and for any Fantasy Footballers out there who drafted Antonio Gates up until week 10 he pretty much costed you season. In Basketball this injury is much worse than to those who play Baseball or Football because of the constant fast pace and lateral movement on the court. We just saw Brandon Roy announce his retirement before his 28th Birthday and I’m here to tell you theirs a strong chance we could be saying the same out of Tyreke Evans before his big 30.

With the Chris Paul trade coming to light I think I can summarize why Marcus has gotten a bad break in the NBA.

– It was Chris Pauls team.

To many who watched the situation Marcus was critiziced for his lack their of defensive commitment and that offensivly he needed to if I can a track from lupe fiasco and "Dumb it Down" and let a star get his run. Marcus did learn however on the bench behind gutless players like Willie green and Marco Belinelli and it’s a lesson he’s taken back to Sacramento and will showcase this season.

– Why trade Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton if you knew Chris Paul wasnt coming back?

At the time I don’t think New Orleans did, but they gave way for Paul to have his team and his say. This created locker room problems between him and Marcus that eventually lead to his first benching and then trade out. Trading Marcus away was the worst thing the hornets could have done and hes going to make them pay for it. Instead of Signing marcus to a deal yesterday the Hornets had to deal with trading the very star that wanted their home grown talent removed from the franchise.

While Marcus may not be a household name to a lot of you yet he will be out producing his contract by next season. The kings stole him from the league and I myself was shocked hes not seeing 40-60 million even on a simulated season between his starts and 6th man aperances. This guy is no Ramon Sessions. He’s commited on both sides of the court and its a travesty the Chicago Bulls aren’t adding him for what the kings got him for.
