This dude is on a tear in the last 4 games.  Yes I know, it’s only 4 games, but he has been dominating teams like Boston, New Orleans, and Milwaukee..  Those are teams with pretty good interior defense.  Not only that, the Suns are (3-1) in that stretch.

The guy is averaging 19.7ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.5bpg over the last 4 games.

He’s shooting 67% from the field (1-1 from 3) and shooting 5 free throws a game while converting 80% of them.

Yeah I remember saying a while back he could really produce for a team with minutes, hopefully he gets the starting nod over Lopez, because he’s a superior player in almost every respect.

It is not all said and done by any stretch of the imagination, but I liked what the Suns got better than what the Magic picked up. The Suns had no real bigs outside of Lopez, and they traded for a pretty decent one in Gortat. He is not going to be an All-Star or anything, despite the stellar numbers of late, but he is a good role guy at the Center spot and is a strong athlete. Thought it was a great pick-up for the Suns. Also loved the fact they got Mikael Pietrus, who I think played a big role on those Magic teams the past couple of years. To me, Orlando just got smaller and while they gained some offensive fire power, they lost some depth and defense. It was a definite trade off, and while they did need to make a change, I feel Phoenix reaped more of the benefit in this trade.

 Ya dudes in beastmode as of late, it’s good to see a guy who didn’t really get to play for so long get consistent minutes.

His interior defence combined with Nash’s dimes could equal a nice turnout for him in Phoenix.

Nice dunk.

Pet peeve of mine is the under the rim camera shot for dunks. I never understand why they use them. This dunk is much better looking when seen from the side. You can see that little hang time after MG bounces off the defender. That all gets lost in the under the rim camera shot.

What the NBA needs to do is put a zoomed camera aimed on the rim so we can get zoomed in slow mo shots of dunks from the side. Don’t just show every replay from under the rim.

Totally agree.  Lebron had a dunk in-game where he took off from about a step inside the foul line, but the only video I’ve been able to find shows the under-the-rim view.  Here is the dunk I"m talking about:

You lose any concept of distance or depth from the camera view.

Gortat is a solid player.  He works hard, knows his role and tries to give his best every game.

He can certainly average double-double playing 30+ minutes on most teams, but playing with Steve Nash probably would make him even better than he really is.  He is starting to gain chemistry with Nash now that he is used to his role and know the plays.  I think playing with Steve Nash certainly helps his game develop.  He’s just  26 and just starts his prime, he’s one of the better young assets on the Suns.  I am disappointed that Robin Lopez has been so garbage this year though.  Gortat should start along side Frye really soon.
