Dion shot better percentages than Kyrie this year – both FG% (.433 to .430) and 3FG% (.368 to .358). Wow! Who could have guessed………

I wouldn’t put it pass the Cavs to shop Kyrie if he and Dion never coexist. I know this is a no no in this site, but if the rumors we here are true, including Dion being the much better leader and Kyrie sending signals he rather be elsewhere, I say ship him out of town. A big pg like Smart would fit perfectly next to Waiters.

Everytime I mention the name Smart being linked to Cleveland it never seems favorable, but I’ve been expressing him being in a Cavs uniform if he slides being very likely.

I kinda agree. I think Irving is being a pain and he’s a very valuable asset. Whatever they could get for him might outweigh the benefit of a disgruntled star.

Plus he strikes me as a player that is not going to want to stay in Cleveland. He is playing his hand close to the vest right now because he wants to make sure that he doesn’t mess up an opportunity to get a max deal.

I think that he is at least a borderline Max deal talent, but I’m not convinced that he is the type of point guard that you want on a max deal long term unless you have another max deal type talent that meshes with him.

Waiters may be a notch below Irving talent wise, but he may be an easier guy to put pieces around.

I feel bad for Cleveland fans. They lost the best player of this era, and then they had all the high draft picks that they needed to rebuild and their gm made a number of poor choices.

So easy to sceme against that. Same situation. Low percentages shooters who should be distributing the ball. They will both shoot more and need the ball. Bad fit. Dion wants to be a pg. They need to decide who they believe in between the two and Smart is not a good fit there.

Kyrie has been hyped up so much after his second season that soooo much was expected out of him the next year. The media capitalized with the cavaliers bad record and brought up so many problems regarding the team; true or not.

Kyrie and Don can co-exist, I have no doubt about it. Their ONLY problem now is their coach. You can’t have a losing record with a lineup of Kyrie, Dion, Deng, Thompson and Hawes with Jack and Bennett of the bench. You just can’t, that team was too talented. Coach Mike Brown can’t pull all those egos together, and it resulted in a ‘bad’ locker room. I’m surprised a lot of the media’s blame was centered around Kyrie when it should be Mike Brown they are headlining about.

I mean, was there ever questions about chemistry issues when Byron Scott was the coach? No. I actually thought Byron Scott did a pretty good job with the team and shouldn’t have been fired. He dealt with a ton of injuries but kept his team fighting. He also did an excellent job developing Kyrie. Fire this knucklehead Mike Brown, hire a good disciplinary coach like SVG and good results will show.

I agree, with the exception of Byron. In three years Byron failed to instill a desire in them to defend. They finished in the bottom three of the league in defensive FG percentage (and almost every other defensive category) during Byron’s stint.

But I’m with you on Mike Brown being the problem. When he was hired the first time, I wanted Rick Carlisle, but they didn’t even interview him (no big deal, he was only hired by Dallas three years later and then won a title in his third year there).

The team had a good record during Brown’s administration, but I argued that it was in spite of him, not because of him, yet somehow he still won coach of the year a couple times. He is totally incompetent.

So Brown gets fired because the Cavs couldn’t score. He is replaced by Byron, who is later fired because the Cavs couldn’t defend. This quandary was solved by re-hiring Mike Brown, and all of a sudden we’re surprised when they can’t score! It truly baffles the mind.

On top of that, Gilbert’s comment when Chris Grant was let go was that “the team has enough talent to win,” which means THE GM IS NOT THE PROBLEM. He’s the one who brought in the talent! If the team has enough talent to win, and the team is not winning, IT IS THE COACH’S FAULT.

And yet this decision was somewhat defended when they started playing better under David Griffin as interim GM because he oversees “a more relaxed environment.” I’m not saying I have a problem with Griffin, it’s just stunning how little common sense is involved in Dan Gilbert’s decisions.

And how on earth is Mike Brown STILL in limbo? The season ended almost a month ago. The Knicks, Warriors, and Jazz have fired or elected not to re-new their head coaches. They’re going to fill their vacancies before Gilbert even decides whether or not to keep his coach. Oh, and the GM certainly can’t make that decision because Gilbert still hasn’t decided whether or not to hire a president or a new GM, as his is still “interim.”

The draft lottery is in two weeks and the draft is in eight weeks, and the Cavs are once again in shambles.

Think I am wrong. When Dion was spoken to at all star weekend they said wow you have a lot of assist going into the half. They said you have some PG skills. Dions exact words look it up "Man that my position"

totally dislike Kyrie… It seems every other day there is another post talking about how another player is better than him…

If you say he’s always injured for the reason why you feel the way you do, then fine… I agree… But you have to be clueless to honestly think Dion is anywhere near a better player than Kyrie… Regardless, Dion said HIMSELF he’s a better player off the bench than starting… So, he’s going against the second unit on opposing teams majority of the night…

This is uber similar to Melo years ago and everyone on this site denouncing him… Overrated was said A LOT… Or he’s not a “Superstar”… Not even top 25… Then the very next year people jumped back on the bandwagon… Look, Kyrie had a down year shooting the ball… Totally his fault, he was being selfish and didn’t get along with Dion… They can’t coexist and Mike Brown is their coach… If healthy I’ll be willing to bet next year Kyrie WILL NOT shoot that low of a percentage… Which on the flip side was a excellent year for Waiters… Now that says A LOT and show your bias against Kyrie… What Kyrie doing isn’t good enough and he’s shooting poorly, YET the same player you said is better is shooting damn near the same percentages but that’s not an issue?

I’m not arguing that Dion is a better player, it’s about whose better for the team. You don’t keep a star around if he doesn’t want to be there. Again, this is assuming the rumors are true, then Cleveland have to see what they can get for him. You win and lose starting from the locker room. If he’s your star, he has got to want to be there. Best case scenario, Kyrie wants to be there and he and Dion works out. If not, you’re foolish to say not to consider all options.

Just a mash up of how everyone is treating Kyrie…  That make sense what you’re saying, especially after LeBron’s exit…

Also, is it a coincidence that Kyrie’s shot 46% and 39% under Coach Scott with FAR less talent but saw it dip to 43% and 36% under Coach Brown? No. FIRE MIKE BROWN

Using either one and try to get Wiggins. Wiggins will catch and shoot and can play 2,3. That would be perfect for Cleveland not saying it will happen. They could keep Kyrie or keep Waiters. Either could have the ball because I see Wiggins as a decent catch and shoot guy with a creator. I agree in Mike Brown needing to go because that offense needs to be shaped and its not his forte. The only thing is management looks dumb bringing a guy back and firing him when a young team does not perform. Deng at the 3 Wiggins at the 2 Irving or Waiters at the pg matches up against everyone well.

Waiters is a point guard? He is as good as Kyrie Irving? Seriously?? The biggest difference is in their free throws. 2013-2014 stats:

    Kyrie: 86% on 4.8 attempts

    Waiters: 68% on 3.4 attempts

    and Assist%

    Kyrie: 31.6%

    Waiters: 18.6%

It’s true that Kyrie had a down year in terms of shooting percentages. He shot 40% from 3 the prior 2 years. Next year, Kyrie’s 3pt% will probably regress to the mean (increase).

Kyrie is better than Dion, and it’s not close. It’s insulting to even compare them.

No reason they can’t play together.

As for Waiters, folks were so busy talking about how aweful a pick he was that few noticed he got good.
