Johnny KilroyParticipantOn 1st Take today, Skip Bayless and Chris Broussard are debating who you would take between the 2.
Chris took Blake
Maybe one of the few times I will agree with Skip Bayless, I would take Kevin Durant!

jjonzParticipantKevin without even thinking about. This should not be a debate. Can’t even mention all of the Qualities Mr.Durant has. 6’9 6’10 wing span of a broom handle, feathery touch around the rim. HOF work ethic. In all honesty who can Durant be compared to with shooting and length.

Quincey HodgesKevin easily. That may change if Blake can get the teanm to the playoffs next season and beyond

creepingdefParticipantAs of today, I’d take Durant.
But if it was based on talent on draft day, I might take Blake. One of the most dominant rookies, I’ve ever seen, straight double double machine.

DanEboyParticipantCan’t really argue either way. Blake is just getting better at a ridiculous rate, everything seems too easy for him.

Toronto16ParticipantToday Kevin Durant. But I’m really starting to get this feeling in my stomach that Blake will be the best in the league in a few years, or at least up there with Lebron.

Malik-UniversalParticipanttoday i take durant… future blake
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/03/2011 - 11:13am #482615
sacphil_08ParticipantKD all the time… now, later whenever youd like… how long can blake play like this? he dunks about every chance he gets and getting undercut or coming down on an ankle or anything like that is a much higher possibility for someone that plays like him and besides even that, KD is a winner (and this is coming from a guy that isnt on his bandwagon like most people are) blake will get great stats on the clippers but hes no better than a #3 scoring option if you have a team that youd like to win a championship with. KD is probably a #2 option as hes more of an off ball kind of guy than anything else but hes a longshot better than blake and that the comparison was even drawn was absurd and the media trying to stir things up… senseless really

Quincey HodgesI guess he can continue to play liek this the way Amare,Larry Nance, Dawkins,Dwight have played like that. Vince, Jordan

OhCanada-ParticipantDont underrate Blake, he really is doing what they show you on TSN, ESPN, and all the other great sports channels. He really is capable of dropping 20 and 20, a triple double, 45 15 and 5 and all those other great stat lines. He has the best motor in the NBA imo byfar, and at this rate looks like he may change the way young people veiw the game, and help increase work ethic. Blake Griffin is everything anyone could ever ask for in a PF, once his shot blocking and steals go up he will be the ultimate versatile player.
Still Id have to go with Durant simply for this fact, there are probally only about 5 players in the league who are capable of being Championship calibur first options, and he is one of them. Maybe all-time NBA History there have been 35-50 Championship Calibur first options, he has proven to be one. IMO a PF cannot be a Championship Calibur 1st option "THESE DAYS" because they are way too easy to trap.

DanEboyParticipantYeah except Blake has handles and can play on the perimeter as well. Plus, he is a very good passer. Not so easy to trap.

Quincey HodgesThere are other guys with his motor( Tyler H) but they dont have the motor plus the skill level which is very very deadly

Michael.S.ParticipantI don’t think Griffin will ever be the best player in the league. However, I really think he can be better than Durant sooner or later but he isn’t right now. I will say this though, Griffin will always have a tremendous impact on the game because his intangibles are second to very few, and he has figured something out already that Durant has yet to, using his individual talent to raise the games of his team…Durant does it to some extent by the fact that he draws so much attention and that opens things up, but thats all.

Quincey HodgesHow hasn’t Durant used his talent to raise the game of his teammates?..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/03/2011 - 12:46pm #482639
Quincey HodgesAt this point last year they had won 20 games. This year they have won 19 games.

R-Dot-13ParticipantDid someone just call Durant a #2 option?
For real?
its not like hes the scoring champ or anything.
ANd its Durant, always will be
But in a few years dont be surprised if Blake, LeBron and KD are the 3 best in the league
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/03/2011 - 2:18pm #482663
FritzParticipantHmm tough question, I think its all a matter of seeing Blake play his sophmore season to see how much better he gets. I think Blake will be the better player but I think his risk of injury is too high with the style he plays. So if I had to choose any player to start my franchise it would go
1. Lebron
2. Dwight Howard
3.A Rose
3.B Durant
3.C Griffin
But I would probably still take some players over Griffin because I just cant see him staying healthy.

Maysek22ParticipantBoth great players. To me, Blake is the mike tyson of ball. An absolute wrecking ball, physical speciman who is electric and explosive and aggressive like no one else i’ve seen. KD is more like Ali to me though. He’s not a straight up puncher; the fight is more like a chess match where he’s a couple steps ahead of everyone else – he plays the game within the game y’know? You take blakes explosiveness away and what do you got? you take KD’s explosiveness away and you still have a great player that can score from anywhere on the floor with jab steps, fakes and just out thinking opponents. think kobe as his physical skills have eroded – still effective.

IndianaBasketballParticipantGriffin has work to do at the defensive end, but he’s more than just as scorer. Durant is a good rebounder, but he’s honestly just a scorer right now.
Griffin is damn near a complete player offensively… And he’s only 21. He can score facing up or with his back to the basket. He can overpower you or finesse you. He can go through you, over you or around you. His jumpshot is improving each game. He can take you off of the dribble. He can even push the ball up the court. He reads the double/triple teams and passes the ball extremely well. He has an amazing understanding and maturity about the game. He’s a more complete player than Durant is RIGHT now.
To me Griffin is more rare as a power forward than Durant is as a small forward. Griffin has impressed me more as a rookie than LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose did. He’s been the best first year player since Tim Duncan in my opinion.

Quincey HodgesI think when comparing Griffin you have to compare him to the other players in there secvond year since this is really his second year. He is not on Durant’s level untill he gets the clippers more wins though. through all the excitment the Clippers are still one game behind where they were last year but people seem to forget that.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/04/2011 - 8:11am #482917
PureshooterParticipantYeah, KD no question. Blake is having a great year, but Durant is a matchup nightmare and has proven to be a consistent producer night in and night out for several seasons. Griffin needs to put together a few good seasons in a row to consider him a better pick.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/04/2011 - 8:34am #482925
andxxxParticipantRight now its KD, but if you’ve watched both of them play its reallllyyy close. Blake Griffen literally improves every game its rediculous he has beaten some of the better teams with a worse supporting cast then what KD has. Blake has made B-diddy care about basketball again and has made the clippers relevant. He has even toned down on his dunks just choosing to dunk when needed or to get the crowd in the game. The guy has a great work ethic and will improve oh his already solid post game and improving jumper and should only get better at defense. Right now its KD, but if Blake keeps improving he’ll be one of the best

abcdefghijklParticipantThere’s no question Durant would be the better choice at this point in time. However, if Blake Griffin continues to improve at this rate then maybe we’d have something to talk about, but right now KD is by far a better player to build a team around.
