WolfRobParticipantSo, Kansas signed Tarik Black, adding another dangerous piece, my question to you guys, who do you think is the better team? I know we can’t really decide until we see them take the floor, but on paper at least.
Kansas has the #1 center in the class in Joel Embiid, paired with Black and Wiggins, they have probably the best front court in the nation! I also personally like Seldon’s game over James Young, although I understand both are very talented players.
Kentucky has the back court advantage overall though.
As much as I love Julius Randle, I really think Kansas is the team to beat…. You can call me crazy, but I sureeeeee hope they meet up this year. That would be incredible basketball.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantKu doesn’t play UK this year as the non confrence schedule is out for KU. KU has Duke and Florida as two big tests.
Will be good to see wiggins vs parker!0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/20/2013 - 3:33pm #778435

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantIf kansas can figure out their point guard situation look out. I think kentucky has more talent, but kansas is more balanced, has more quality experience, and equal coaching..

strobox88ParticipantSelf did say in an interview he would be playing the 2 and 3 for the most part, but occasionally will have Wiggins bring the ball up to make plays. Given this is Mr. Wiggins team, I’m sure we’ll see it come to fruition.

SiggyParticipantI don’t. Wiggins isn’t a good ball-handler and isn’t much of a playmaker. They have 3 guys capable of handling the ball with Naadir Tharpe, Conner Frankamp and Frank Mason.
The starting spot might go to Tharpe at based on seniority and defense but I like Frankamp more because Tharpe tends to play wild. Frankamp looks like a mature player, a steady decision maker and is a lights out shooter which I think they’ll need in their starting lineup. I was really impressed by his play with Team USA. He’s more of a shooter/scorer than a distributor but I think he can have a similar impact as Kevin Pangos last yr if given similar minutes.0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/20/2013 - 4:04pm #778461

strobox88ParticipantOf course since Kansas is my favorite team, I am biased and will go with KU all day. I do recognize, however, talent-wise Kentucky is the team to beat.

jaysmith1987ParticipantKentucky has the better team and front court they have Will Cayley Stien returning Dakari Johnson Kyle Wiljer Pothyress and they have Julius Randle that’s a lot of talent. Even with Wiggins Kansas can’t top that.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantI agree with most talent wise UK is ahead of KU espescially off the bench. Ego wise UK is also ahead of KU which is not a good thing. think UK is going to have a harder time geling. Plus I think Self>Calapari when it comes to in game coaching.

PG, SG, PF, and C. The #2 SF in James Young, the #2 PF in Marcus Lee, and the #10 ranked Combo Forward in Willis.
Add that with 2 out of 4 of last years #2 recruiting class and underachieving, but streaky stretch 4 and finally multiple Sr. and this tem is STACKED.
Kansas does look pretty good, but I still see them in the second tear with Ohio State, Louisville, Michigan and North Carolina.

J_01ParticipantYes Uk has the #1 PG SG and PF but the #1 Center is arguable between Joel Embiid and Dakari Johnson. Uk’s recruiting might be the best of all time…but don’t boost people’s rankings. James Young is not #2 that belongs to the #2 overall recruit Jabari Parker. Even more of an exaggeration is Marcus Lee as the #2 PF. This class is loaded with PFs and Marcus Lee is ranked 9th by ESPN and 8th by Rivals. He is not #2 and not even close. Lastly Willis ranked #10 in something? I’d like to know who you put in your combo forward rankings?
Yes UK is stacked but please do not post the wrong rankings just to make your point sound better. UK probably does have the more talented team but I would not be suprised if Kansas beats them. Having the best player on the court with Bill Self running the team where he always makes the most out of the players he has will make them a very good team. Hope to see a UK vs KU sometime in the tournament. If not at least we’ll see one Wiggins vs Parker game when KU plays Duke.

theballerwayParticipantetc etc, But the point guard play is gonna be the key again. The common assupmtion is that Harrison is going to have a seemless transition to the NCAA level. Thats not a definate though or could simply take time. I still go with Kentucky as a nod to Randle, I like Stein also upfront.

Willo15ParticipantHow could you not give the advantage to Kentucky. Last year and even some of you this year were saying how Kentucky can’t win it with Freshman, then it was if they get Wiggins they will win it all. Make up your minds. Now its, Kansas’s roster looks better. What a joke. Kentucky’s roster has guys who played major minutes last year and it resembles the roster they had when they won it all. Wiltjer(Jr has won a title, played big mins and can hit the 3 ball) Poythress(Sophomore played good mins and has no choice, but to get better.the potential is there. Project first round next year) Cauley-Stein (Sophomore played big mins and improved drastically potential Top 8 pick in this draft. If you pare them with the freshman what holes do you have? They are are deeper then any team in America. Quit hating on Kentucky and give Cal and his staff props for what they have assembled this year. If Pitino can play 9 or 10, how come Cal cant? He likes to put pressure on the D and play at a fast pace. Last year he did not have players (PG) to do it. This year you have the Harrison twins and two back ups in Polson and Hawkins. (Jaysmith1987 knows what he is talking bout)

The QParticipantI’m still trying to figure out how Self can’t get a good PG in there. Hasn’t since Chalmers really. (I guess you can count selby as well).
Tharpe is not good. Him and Johnson had a battle going to be Michigan’s MVP in that S16 matchup last year. Should’ve let Providence keep him and taken Dunn for themselves.

HaleParticipantUK on paper should definitely be better. They are deeper at guard and just flat out better in the frontcourt. Randle/Poythress/WCS/Johnson/Wiltjer are way better than Ellis, Embiid (all raw ability), Black (didn’t even start for Memphis) and Wiggins.
