I was really excited to watch Holiday and Wall go against each other tonight.  Despite this being Holiday’s second season the NBA he is only 3 months younger then Wall.  I didn’t even realize that the Wizards have not yet won a game on the road yet they are 0-16.  Wall and Holiday is an interesting matchup because unlike most other PG’s  that Wall goes against Holiday is just as big and long as Wall and much stronger.  Holiday does not posses Wall’s blazing speed, how many people do, but he does posses the same elite quickness.

    Sixers 109 – Wizards 97

    Holiday 38 mins 10-14 FG 26 Points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 1 blocks

    Wall 38 mins 6-14 FG 18 Points, 1 rebounds, 14 assists, 1 steal

Disclaimer: I am a John Wall fan now having said that:

Jrue owned John Wall tonight and it wasn’t even close.  Even Wall’s 18 points are misleading because 6 of them were garbage points.  With 30 seconds left and the Sixers up by 14 Lou Williams dribbled the ball away and instead of shooting the ball with 6 seconds left, Williams stood at half court and took the shot clock violation, no doubt a classy move.  With the Sixers and Wizards walking up the court Wall took the inbounds pass and raced down the floor to hit a layup at the buzzer, and I felt that showed Wall complete lack of respect for the game of basketball.

John Wall is either still really hurt or don’t want to play defense.  At the end of the game with a few minutes left and the Sixers only up 5 Wall let Holiday and Williams get into the lane at will.  There were 3 times, 3 TIMES! That on the pick and roll Wall just stopped when he saw Brand and then watched further as Williams, and then Holiday just cruised into the lane for an easy lay up then Wall ran up and grabbed the inbounds pass and raced up the court.  Obviously he must of been saving his energy for offense…

This is not John Wall hate but he still got a lot to learn and I keep hearing people call him a winner, and you can tell by watching him play how much he wants to win… All I see out of Wall is somebody who knows how important stats are to perception.  I have yet to see Wall clamp down on defense at the end of a game and grind out a win possession by possession.  The Wizards have not yet won one stinking game on the road and a lot of that has to fall on Wall’s shoulders. He has to will his team to a win one of these times.  Even Cousins is winning games down the stretch.

Anybody else see this game thoughts, inputs, I’m sure to get a ton of negatives for pointing out flaws in the Holy Wall’s game so be it, it’s the truth.

And as for Holiday this kid is a stud.  He stayed in front of Wall all game including drawing a key charge on him late in the game which took all the air out of the Wizards.  Considering Holiday is still younger then about 90% of the rookies in the league it is not a stretch to say this kid has a Flood Lights Bright Future.  He is almost to anti John Wall.  He is the Tim Duncan to an Amare Stoudemire.  Holiday is all results and no hype or flash.  He is a true franchise PG and he won’t even be old enough to drink until the season is well over.

I agree, Holiday is awesome. He is going to be a amazing player.

However, Wall is going to be better…Holiday might be slightly better now but Wall is just a tier above in terms of what he can become. I also wouldn’t blame Wall for the Wizards record as he is a rookie who has missed a good percentage of his career so far, his team is subpar as well, just like Holiday.

As for Wall not being a winner, you can’t say that. He has a mediocre supporting cast right now. Blatche is out of shape and isn’t the same low-post scorer he was last season, and the Wizards frontline played TERRIBLE defense tonight, especially McGee, because his PnR defense was TERRIBLE. You can’t put many of these losses on Wall’s shoulders because he’s doing whatever he can to keep his team in the game but his teammates don’t do their jobs. Many of the blame has to go to Flip Saunders too. He makes so many stupid decisions like switching to zone late in the game which FUCCKS us up, and by making dumb rotations. I also don’t like his offense because it’s mainly focused on shooting jumpshots. His teammates also don’t get to the free-throw line a lot. With Blatche playing the way he’s been lately, the Wizards have no low-post scorer and get no easy shots because they are forced to shoot jumpshots all game. Saying Wall isn’t a winner is completely out of line right now because he’s doing whatever he can do, but his teammates just aren’t showing up. If the Wizards didn’t have Wall for the last few games, they would have gotten blown out in each one.

I don’t know why Wall got so much flack for trying to score in garbage time. So many Sixer fans were criticising him after the game. if you are getting blown out…you try to score until the very end. If Wall would just catch the ball and let the clock run out.. that would say that I don’t care about this game. If yoy are trailing in the game you are supposed to score no matter what the situation.

What the hell is wrong with people sometimes? Wall is a douche for not walking off the court when there was still time left?

Thanks guys for the intelligent feedback.

I would never say Wall is not a winner, but I would say he seems to accept his team is not going anywhere and in all honesty looks like he outs for delf right now.  His supporting cast is responsible for the ridiculous gaudy assists numbers he always gets too mainly because players like Blatche, and Young can and will shoot like as soon as a pass from Wall touches their hands.  Nick Young amazes me that dude can freeccin shoot the lights out of Times Square.

And when is Flip Saunders going to get fired???? He is a terrible coach and made no adjustments on Holiday or Williams when they started getting hot.  Holiday and Williams looked like All Stars against Wall and Hinrich tonight which really surprised me.  Doug Collins knew that if the Wiz were going to go small in the backcourt that he had an answer for them with Williams who can get hot and melt the nets at times.

Saunders aside I was not trying to point the blame of all their losing on Wall because it is a team filled wit knuckle heads but my points was I just surprised Wall has not rubbed off any winning on his teammates.

And what made made Wall’s heroic layup effort with 3 seconds left so bad was that Williams just took a freecing shot clocc violation not to run the score up and show class because if you saw the game we all know the Sixers could of poored it on at the end and just kept taking it too the basket because the Wizards weren’t even trying to get stops.  But they didn’t they instead took the violation and pretty much said alright games over let’s keep this game professional still, and it’s like thats how you get repaid for being classy is by running down to pad your stats.  notice no other Wizards were even involved in the play.  That is why I was mad at it.

Holiday got the better of the matchup today, but it’s clear to see Wall probably isn’t even 75% healthy.

Honeycutt needs to stay another year in college to become the player he has the potential to be.  He still is extremely raw and I think if he were to enter the draft now he would be shot changing his career because his body is not ready for it and neither is his shot ready for the NBA.  He will be like Corey Brewer if he don’t stay another year I think.  And I love watching Jrue Holiday dribble the basketball he is so smooth when he get’s in the lane is like a hot nice thru butter or NBA 2k11 on Rookie because defender just easily move to the side as he weaves thru traffic.

Who does Jrue Holiday remind you of?  He reminds me of Deron Williams because of how big and strong he is yet he is deceptively quick.

I doubt if Wall LET them get in the lane at will, he probably couldn’t stop them from getting into the lane. Alot of people can’t stop Williams or Holiday from getting in the lane sometimes

And he would be a perfect fit here in philly post Iguadola. We’d be picking in the 10 to 16 range and if he’s there I would draft him without a seconds pause. He, Turner any Holiday would be a nice defensive trio up top. Iguadola must be traded soon. I love his game but its time to invest in the Holiday/Turner backcourt. Thaddeus Young is a great backup option when we trade Iggy. We need to either get a true center or lottery pick and project big man. The way I see it we have to draft Honeycutt with our pick in the teens and then turn Iggy into 2 young bigs. The Raptors could take on Iggy with their trade exemption. If they were willing to trade a lottery pick and Solomon Alibi or Ed Davis for a chance to pair Iggy with Derozon, Weems and Johnson they’d at the very least be the best looking fastbreak in the nba. If players like Kyrie Irving pull out of the draft how much would the raptors care about a lottery pick. Iggy in Toronto seems like a good fit. They’d become the Mavericks lite minus a defender. They can always sign a Center in FA and use Calderon for another year. The sixers have to make a trade with 1 of the teams with trade exemptions. Getting a lottery pick and clearing some cap space should be a main priority.

Don’t you remember Wall’s triple double against Holiday the last time they met? Holiday is in no means a better player then Wall, Wall is most likely not 100% healthy.
