Josh Smith pretty much hasn’t hit anything outside of 10 feet the last couple games but I always thought his form has always looked pretty but the guy can’t really hit a jump shot. Anybody else find this kind of odd and are there any other guys you can think of that have a good looking shot but don’t shoot that well even wide open?  Shawn Marion’s got terrible form but he still has been a okay shooter at points in his career.

Josh smith  really needs to start knocking them down, he will be the x-factor as to if they win the series. The good thing about Josh smith though,is that he provides more then just scoring so its not like he’s useless.

Yeah I don’t see why he keeps shooting from range when he has a lane, especially when he is having success going to the basket. But another guy is Xavier Henry. His form is very nice but shot something like 14% from 3. Maybe it was a rookie thing though.

Exactly, he’s not hitting, but EVERY time he gets tha ball and attacks the rim he either scores or gets 2 free throws, he needs to use his athleticism to his advantage.

I think it was just a him being a rookie, He missed invauable time with the Grizz while his stupid contract situation was being worked out. I think next year or his next FULL season(lockout) he will improve.

Josh’s shooting is absolutely horrendous right now, he’s had stretches in his career when he’s shot well. He shot a better 3 point % in the regular season than both Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams and he took 154 of them. When evaluating him it’s similar to John Wall who also goes through stretches of awful shooting. Like Wall Smoove doesn’t have bad shooting form. Wall doesn’t have Rondo type form, the problem with both of these guys(Smith and Wall) is that they don’t always committ to their shots. When they really use their legs they make their shots. When they flick it with their wrists they miss bad. Part of Josh’s issues is the fact that he’s added weight and strength and he’s having trouble adjusting his shot to his new found strength. It was nice tonight to see him as a terror on the boards and blocking shots. I am so upset with Horford right now. He had an excuse against the Magic because he was playing center against Dwight Howard, but for a guy who’s a two time reigning all star he should not be playing this poorly when Boozer is undersized and he is familiar with Noah. He needs to step his game up, he’s the allstar. Taj Gibson outplayed him tonight.

This team will drive you nuts.

Smith has to stop taking jump shots unless he’s wide open off penetration or the shot clock is about to expire.

Smith loves taking jump shots for some reason. Larry Drew needs to get Smiths act together. Smith never needs to shoot a 3. Ever. Does Smith enjoy missing all these jump shots? He needs to take it to the rim everytime.

The real problem is Larry Drew.

WTF kind of offense are the Hawks running? Throw the ball to Joe Johnson or Jamal Crawford and pray?

    It’s atrocious to watch.

Hawks are going to lose this series because 9/10 offensive sets begin with an isolation and end in a difficult jumper.

You simply can’t win like that in the playoffs.

It’s not really Josh’s fault that he gets the ball on the perimeter and NOBODY is moving.

The hawks should be running a series of plays

    1) Al Horford in the low post

    2) Josh Smith in the low post

    3) Joe Johnson in the pick and roll, primarily with Horford (who can roll or pop)…. with Josh smith streaking in for backdoor plays and garbage buckets.

Is it really that complicated?? Jamal Crawford and Joe Johson aren’t going to shoot 50%FG for the playoffs. Larry Drew is delisional.

Josh Smith is a beast from 10 feet in. I don’t understand why he doesn’t just play down low. It usually ends with a dunk, a good low post pass for a high % shot (Smoove is a very good and underrated passer from the high or low post), or a jump hook which is a solid shot for him. Instead he faces up and misses the vast majority of his face up shots from 18 feet on out.

And to piggyback, I agree. The Hawks’ offense is an isolation for Joe Johnson or Jamal Crawford. Whenever they play like that they lose or the other team makes a run that’s unneccessary. Coach Drew has gotten outcoached the last 2 games by a mile, and it’s mostly because the Hawks have been running the same "iso leads to bad shot" offense that got Coach Woodson run out of town. On the bright side, Jeff Teague finally is showing life and that he is the Hawks’ PG of the future. The man has freak athleticism and quickness.

Ive just never been a fan of his, imo i think he is overrated. If i was ATL i would seriously put out feelers to see if i could get a decent starting center for him or maybe Marvin Williams. I think Tyson Chandler would be a good fit next to Al Horford, or maybe they could get Delambert. Maybe its just me but i thought Josh Smith was gonna evolve  in2 an elite level small forward when he was coming out. But instead he is just an average player with big time athleticism.
