In watching these first five games in the Bulls/Hawks series I’ve noticed how talented Josh Smith is offensively on the low block.  He is an absolute monster in the paint and has overmatched both Deng and Boozer while in the post.  I’m wondering why Atlanta doesn’t get him the ball in the post more when it is obvious he is a mismatch for either player who guards him?  He has great post moves, something I never knew about him.  Why not feed him down low when he has been able to score at will in the post?  I think he has a small forward’s mentality and likes to play on the perimeter too often.  He needs to get the ball in the paint more often than he does.

Because they prefer Horford in the low block and when Collins and Zaza are in there he has to play SF which leaves him on the perimter where he sucks. Ever since he worked with Hakeem a few summers back Smoove has been great on the low block, unfortunately the Hawks offense consists of Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford isolations.

I was just noticing on defense that hes a TREMENDOUS weakside defender but 1 on 1 he is brutally bad. He got schooled consistently by taj gibson

Josh Smith is not a good shooter, mid range or three pointer, he is at his best when he is attacking the rim consistently and when he plays on the low block, when he does that for most of the game, the Hawks are either going to be winning or be close in striking distance. He needs to learn that shooting is not his game, it is him posting up and getting shots close to the rim, the sooner he realizes that, the better he will be and the more lethal the Hawks will be.
