looks like a very good prospect i saw chad ford said in one of his chats that he has more upside than donatas and should end up in the end going top 7 in the draft. he stays close to the basket instead of moving outside im impressed

really tall and long armed and stays inside which I like. He needs to add a lot of weight but I like him.

nice post moves and work ethic but not yet strong enough to be a great nba player but still has time for improvement as he is only 18 and donatas is 20

I love this kid and think he is a sleeper pick in this draft because he could wind up being the best big man in the whole class. From what i hear he is def declaring this year because of the lack of depth in this class and if their is a lockout he can stay in Europe for another year or 2 anyway and would most likely be drafted the highest in this draft because the 2012 draft is going to be stocked with talent especially big men and a few of the super Frosh could be staying for the Soph year like Barnes and Irving.

I was reading on DX that Jonus measures in at close to 6’11 barefoot and has a 7’6 wingspan.  This was according to Jonus himself but he does look to have a mammoth wingspan and he finishes with fire around the rim.  Him and Kanter have had some epic match up together with Jonus being the better defensive prospect.  This site has him way too low he is a surefire lotto pick to me and that Brazilian dude don’t have a chance at being drafted over him.

Jonas Valanciunas should be better than Donatas Motiejunas.  He played with more energy and passion.  He is willing to bang inside rebound, score in the post, defend even though he does not have the strength yet.  I can’t yet think of a good comparison, but he looks like he would be better than Andris Biedrins.

Motiejunas on the other hand doesn’t look like he has much passion or energy.  Looks lazy on defense and can only score.  Bargnani looked better than Motiejunas when he played in Italian league.  Motiejunas reminded me more of Vlad Radmonovic.  When his shots ain’t falling, he was invisible on the court.

I also like Jan Vesely.  Extremely atheletic and making high lights all the time.  He plays with a lot of energy and looks to dunk every chance he got.  Right now, he is too weak to be considered a good post player in the NBA though, but he certainly shows a lot of energy and passion.

Valanciunas is so underrated on nbadraft.net.  I would rank Jonas Valanciunas > Jan Vesely > Donatas Montiejunas.

"im not real impressed with donatas because he doesnt stay near the basket i really think jonas may be the top european player in the draft this year"

They are very different players. Valanciunas is a beanpole but goes inside and does the garbage. It is admirable, but also necessary because he doesn’t have much in the ways of an offensive skill set. Everything he is going to get is either off an assist or a put back. Defensively, he is not going to be strong enough to be any sort of immediate help  but he does move his feet and try (though most of the bad teams in the NBA have strategically given up trying to play defense so how that would go over is hard to determine).

Motiejunas is skilled and 6’11 big men that can do what he can are few and far between. The problem is that for two years in Italy he has been a guy who does really well against the poorer clubs and isn’t all that impressive against the likes of Montepaschi Siena and Armani Jeans Milano. He is still really young for that level so it might not be a big deal, but I don’t see what translatable info there is from a guy torching an overmatched soon-to-be relegated opponent. He isn’t a great rebounder, he’ll pull in what he gets, but this year is getting fewer with Greg Brunner around. Defensively, he is perfect for a bad team.
