That’s going to be the nickname I give to Jodie Meeks, “The Sniper” because he’s just a flat out assassin on the court. I think he’s the next Joe Dumars, a muscular 6’4 guard, that can play lock down defense, but can also light it up.

Meeks is a nice college player. But he’s not big or athletic enough to guard many NBA shooting guards, and his streaky scoring is as much cause for concern as delite. Had Meeks not faded away in the second half, Kentucky could have beaten Louisville as well.
Keep perspective here: plenty of less-than-great players have incredible nights. Meeks is a solid player who could make it into the NBA someday, but he’s hardly a lottery pick.

  I agree but he has been scoring at a nice rate,If he comtinues to develop his overall game he could become lottery worthy at least i think he could. True a lot of players have had some good nights,but this guy has been on this year he stepped his game up. Who’s to say he won’t continue to develop.

  Meeks is big enough for a SG at 6’4″ 208 lbs.
  The fact is, he owns an amazing jump shot and in the NBA where he won’t be the focus of the offense, but a 4th or 5th option like Raja Bell or Bruce Bowen, he’ll be a great guy to throw the ball to for an open jumper, since opposing teams will leave him open to double down on the stars. He doesn’t play defense like Bell or Bowen yet, but Meeks is a better shooter than both already. He’s still an underclassman. There’s a market in the NBA for those kind of players.

54 is impressive for a college game. 10 for 15 from behind the arc, wow. Athleticism is so overrated, I rather have a guy who can shoot than an athletic he can’t shoot outside 8 feet.

  Cyclo, the problem with your argument is Bell and Bowen both get playing time because of their defense. Their shooting is just an extra.

    He’s a better shooter than Bell and Bowen.
    Compare him to Roger Mason then, whose primary reason for playing is because he can shoot.
    Not the most athletic player, but a reliable shooter who makes teams pay for double teaming the stars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli.
    That’s the kind of player Jodie Meeks will be.
    Should be a mid-to-late first round pick and should be projected as such. If he falls to the second round, he’ll be a steal.

Anyone who thinks that Jodie Meeks is not athletic only saw his 54 point performance. This kid could barely shoot coming out of High School and he was still named the 2006 Atlanta Journal Constitution Player of the Year. He may not have highlight dunks, but he sure can get to the rim (think Rodney Stuckey). This kid is 6’4″ and 208 lbs. Ronnie Brewer? Come on. He still can’t shoot, but I love his UPSIDE. HAHHAHAHA. Jodie will find his niche in the league just like Tayshaun did.

Jodie Meeks is an old school shooter whose stroke reminds of Dale Ellis, Eddie Johnson and Glen Rice.
He’s playing in a tough conference against the best NCAA competition.
This isn’t some small school player.
He’s more athletic than Michael Redd which makes him plenty athletic enough to succeed in the NBA.

Hes awesome, not a human highlight real but hes a great competitor and a great player. I keep saying this but the bad teams in the lottery keep lettin good players go to already good teams late in the first round. He doesnt have as much upside but his peak potential is still as high as most of the players in the draft because hes already such a developed basketball player. I could see him going to a team like atlanta which would be great for him.

meek is not a more athletic edd..hes no where near redds level and so far in the preseason hasnt shown to be much of a shooter or scorer..and he definatly doent have as much potenial as anyone in the draft as someone said

You know what I hate about these spammers^ the most. They bring dead threads back to life like this one. I was expecting for someone to have a new opinion about Jodie Meeks, instead its a post about the “best MTS Converter.”
