McDunkinI know its the 4th quarter of a blowout against Indiana but he is making some nice passes on the fastbreak.

don042488ParticipantThe Heat should’ve drafted Ish Smith instead of Derrick Pittman

JNixonParticipantSmith was the fastest player in the nation for last year IMO (not John Wall or Denis Clemente), and he’s always been a dime dropper. He’s not a good shooter or anything, but he can get wherever he wants on the court and he’s outstanding as a playmaker. I think he can develop into a backup PG in due time, but right now he fits as a 3rd PG for the Rockets.
I played with Smith at a camp in Atlanta, and he’s easily the fastest player I’ve ever seen in person. I seriously could do nothing but play off of him and TRY to make him shoot jumpers. And he still beat me to the lane. And he’s a good leaper too, as he threw down some dunks when the layup wasn’t open. I’m a fan of Smith and I’ve been following him since then (that was the Summer before his Jr season at Wake). I hope he succeeds.

WizardofOzParticipantEven though it’s only preseason, I always knew he could make an impact with an NBA team. I watched him in collge last season and this kid was FAST. I thought he should have been drafted this year.

Da1potParticipantHe’s good, but I expect him to spend the majority of his season in the D-League, because there simply are not that many minutes available for him behind Lowry and Brooks. I think he could stick around in the league if he develops a better jumper. One of the few undrafted players this year who I can see making a possible impact in the future.

vicenteruizParticipant- que smith puede ser un jugador de calidad por su velocidad y rapides con el balon y ademas de su manear de jugar de toda la cancha
Smith may be a quality player for its speed and quicker with the ball and in addition to his play full court

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI was surprised he didn’t get drafted..I had him going in the middle of the 2nd round..He’s capable of being a quality starter in a few years..He needs to add a jump shot in the mean time..I saw the game against Indiana and he never looked to shot the ball..But he seems very confident in his playmaking ability and has that Old School point guard leadership that you rarely see today…I don’t see him getting many miuttes playing behind Brooks & Lowery who they signed to a big contract..Some team will have themselves a steal,if they offer the Rockets a future 2nd round pick for Smith…

MagikKnickParticipantMade some really nice passes, he can develop into a solid NBA point guard..
Oh, and how the hell do u embed videos now? -_-

gregoden08ParticipantIsh Smith a starter? Lol, if he is your starter you’re going to lose a lot of games. He played really good today, though. I think he could turn into a back up pg, but I wouldn’t be suprised to see him in the d-league for a couple of years or seeing him go to Europe (more money, playing time etc).

RUDEBOY_Participant^^^ yeah, Smith have great playmaking skills..i think he’s a better playmaker than Shannon Brown or Kyle Lowery..He’s not a starter right now,but in 2 years he can be a starter,he needs to work on his jump shot..thats what held him back from getting drafted…He reminds me of Rondo..Alot of people said Steve Blake would never be a starter. They said Blake was a Euro-League player..But he’s a pure point guard coaches love those type of guys becuz they’re like a coach on the floor..And they set everyone up in the right places to be successful…I guarantee you if Smith gets waived several teams will be trying to sign him..The Kings & Hornets are looking for a backup…

omphalosParticipantI remember watching Wall lose to Smith in the NCAA tournament and thinking, why haven’t I heard about this kid before?
@Rudeboy: Hornets would be a great situation for him, and I daresay Toronto aswell. Raptors have said they want to play more up-tempo and I can see Smith and DeRozan being a very entertaining back-court to watch.
If I recall correctly Lowry is injured isn’t he? Smith might just spend some time as back-up PG after all.

omphalosParticipant^^^ Wow, I spaced there, Wake Forest lost to Kentucky. I was thinking of West Virginia for some reason. It was the Texas game I was thinking of, very solid performance there.

hiphopismylifeParticipantIt’s Dexter Pittman not Derrick. And Ish is a crazy athlete he almost posterized Wall and Bledsoe in he tourney last year on the break

PlatypusParticipantI agree Nohla should pick him up, he could be a good spark off the bench and could learn alot from chris paul

StF616ParticipantWow! I know i only saw him in one game, but dudes a Beast!
From The Showing He Had Yesterday, I hope the Rockets Keep Him!
He was Quick as hell, gwas makin some nice passes and some steals steals
Ended up with 8 points 8 assists(That looked more like 15 with the way he was finding the open man) and 3 steals
If he doesnt make the rockets as the 3rd PG, Im Pretty Sure Some Team In The League Will Find him And Sign Him

MelParticipantI remember him, he was injured the season Jeff Teague was there and Wake was ranked #1 while he was out. Teague, if you remember, was killing and had the team playing well. Smith came back and Teague’s play suffered. They eventually lost in the opening round to Cleveland State.
I didnt like how Smith ran that team but he is changing my mind with his inspired play.

canesboy6ParticipantHe might develop into a backup. I see him as a fringe NBA player, I thought he was very overrated in college but his game seems to translate nicely. Needs to learn how to shoot.
Don, getting Dexter Pittman was not a mistake for the Heat. He looks to be in the best shape of his life, and has the potential to be a paint controlling presence. Backup Pg’s are a dime a dozen. Veterans, rookies, Undrafted FA’s, and D-League is full of guys who are competent bringing the ball up the floor, passing to the wings, and playing defense. When you see a guy who can play center in the second round, you always take him.

Brace94ParticipantIsh Smith=Rajon Rondo

PureshooterParticipantBig Wake fan here. I’ve watched Smith play over the years and, while is an elite athlete (quickness, speed, leaping ability), he is not very big, has a suspect jumper, and can get out of control at times. If you watched the first half he definitely took a few ill advised floaters when he would’ve been better off pulling it out and waiting on teammates.
I’m pulling for him to make the Rockets roster, but he will definitely be a bit of a project. He could be a great defender down the road with his quickness.
