OldSkoolBasketballParticipantHe and the sixers are playing really well right now. Knicks better watch out or they will drop in the seeding.

omphalosParticipantIt’s the Doug Collins effect; every time he comes to a team they make vast improvements almost immediately. I’m kinda stunned about how well they have been doing of late though, that awful start and the less than inspiring play of Evan Turner makes me wonder where it all came from.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI would hate to see this team or the Hawks come playoff time if I am the Heat or Celtics…

durantula83ParticipantA rejuvenated Elton Brand, the insertion of their long range threat Jodie Meeks into the line-up, an improved Holiday. Thaddeus Young who has accepted his role as an energy guy off the bench, Lou Williams as a young veteran leader off the bench, the slowly but steadily improving Turner and last but not least Andre Iguodala who has truely become the player he was always capable off. He has done this by sharing the ball more and taking less shots. At 27 now he’s entering his prime, and he’s smart enough to realise he’s got plenty of talent surrounding him to finally get to the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time since he’s been in the league.

Mr. 19134ParticipantTurner had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in his ROOKIE DEBUT against the Heat. It’s not that he’s improving, it’s just that Iggy is on the team so people who don’t watch every Sixer game don’t know how good he is. People just look at stats and write him off and underachieving. When given minutes he can produce.
Tonight’s game for instance Iggy committed 2 straight turnovers and had like 8 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds, on a horrible shooting night. We couldn’t get offense and were down 2. Turner comes in and scores right away. The next play on defense he blocks Law’s shot, and runs back only to grab 3 consecutive offensive rebounds before getting fouled. Turner had 2 huge plays down the stretch one where he hit a 17 footer with Lee in his face, and another where he took Lee off the dribble and dunked right on him, and I can’t believe it’s not in the highlights cuz it was a beautiful play. A better play then the Ellis hook.
The with the game tied 6 seconds left, Turner inbounded the ball and the play was if Iggy got double teams, Turner was already cutting wide open on the lane, and Iggy was double and Turner was open, so Iggy instead dribble further from the basket like he was running away from the double team and barely got the shot off.
In O.T. Turner scored 8 points and put the game on ice. Iggy drible double came when the Sixers were up 5 and GSW took a 3 at which point Iggy grabbed his 10th rebound still 1 assist away, so he thru an outlet pass to Turner, with like 8 seconds left up 5 normally Turner and any player would of pulled the ball out and ran the clock out, but he dunked it knowing that Iggy was one assists shy. You should of saw Iggy’s face I thought he was gonna kiss Evan.
Turner +25 for the game. Iggy -3.

Afactor4ParticipantI HATE how ESPN or TNT show just about every Magic, Lakers, Heat, Bulls, and now, Knicks games, but only once in a blue moon show games of teams like the 76ers, Wizards, Pacers, etc… Yeah I get it, these are the famous and good teams, but I wanna see every team play rather than just see THOSE teams playing against eachother.
It’s very infuriating how it’s basically the same shit on tv all the time. Which is why I have made a point to make my final two staples center trips Clips vs Sixers and Clips vs Wizards.

flyboyParticipantHe’s always been capable of this. But now that there is less pressure on him to be the #1 guy, he seems to be flourishing. The 76ers are a really dangerous team now, and with Doug Collins, who in my eyes is one of the most underrated coaches possibly ever, they are a threat going forward. The biggest improvements for them have been defensively, cutting down mistakes, better PG play and improved shooting, and the play of their two veterans, Brand and Iggy, really stepping up their games and being the veteran leaders this team needed.
