This Lobo team cannot play fluid basketball. Every possession was some disjointed post play where they took some forced shot. Harvard looked smooth as eggs compared to them out there.

The most tragic part is the fact that Steve Alford, New Mexico’s Head Coach, received a 10 year $20 million extension YESTERDAY.

Why would you give the guy BIG MONEY before even proving himself in The Tournament?

That would be like buying my daughter a present after her studying hard for a test…

Then her failing the test and me being like…WHOOPSIES!

alford is actually a good coach. i bet if he had kentucky’s squad he would have done more with it than calipari. calipari is an average coach and an awesome recruiter. alford is good and will get better, and maybe some other kids around the country will go to new mexico and do this again. the talent level of the new mexico team was not the greatest or anything, but neither is harvard’s. but you can’t win them all. i think new mexico has a good future with alford.

the question i have now is how good is the mwc? yes the conference was good against top fifty competition, but outside the conference how good were they against the top fifteen to twenty five teams? pac twelve right now is undefeated. mwc lost both their games today and the one they had yesterday. i get the big east being this good. the big ten has come back strong over the last few years. acc is always in the mix. i get the big twelve being this good. the sec had an off year and it shows, but mwc might have been overrated a little bit going into the tourney and pac twelve underrated. unbelievable how the mwc top team gets a three seed and can’t even get to the second round. the mwc has a top prospect in anthony bennett on another team and they get bounced by a lower seeded team. upsets happen, but i think it’s fair to ask this question in hind site now. how good was new mexico really? if you take records away, and just go by how good a team is, where would you rate new mexico in the country? are they really one of the best twenty five teams in the country? is gonzaga really one of the ten best? or are these mid major teams this year successful even in a weaker talent year of college basketball more successful based on not playing elite teams? just wondering on other’s thoughts here.

I had New Mexico in my final four as well.

Some Harvard students are going to hear about this win and realize for the first time their school has a basketball team.

Well Malcolm X. Consider yourself lucky. Because you are 1 of 1,238 to have a perfect bracket.
