How does this story play out?

    Is Klay Thompson Monta’s replacement?

What will GSW look like with Curry and Thompson as a tandem?  Is that a good look for the future being that neither of them are elite athletes or are particularly physically strong for their positions?

What does GSW want in return for Ellis should they trade him?  What can they get?

Do you think that Ellis definitely has to go soon being that Mark Jackson is taking over as coach?

Who wants Ellis?  Where are the best fits?

How much time does Jackson have with Thompson (to show and prove) and vise-versa?

Is GSW a better team with or without Ellis…provided they get comparable to what they are looking for in acquisition?

I have more questions but will start with those for now.

Thompson will be a good fit with the warriors bringing more shooting and size but he is not the long term answer. Monta needs to be moved and a good trade would be moving Ellis for Igouadala. Andre is a long athletic defender who could run the wings for GS while monta would bring much needed scoring to the 76ers.

First of all that’s cool to see gsw back on the bright side of bball life… (new logo new colors new staff : and great quality for all of those choices in my opinion).

I personaly think thompson was a great choice that year (compared to next year’s monroe miss !!!) and he feets well with gs way of playing… I can see him as a more physical rip hamilton. He will be a player that score and take the pressure off the shoulders of steph curry.

He could be the opportunity for steph’ curry to improve his playmaking and pg skills. Thompson should develop as a scorer who doesn’t need the ball in his hand every play to be effective. In that way they could be very productive and complementary pieces. In that way he could be much more interesting than monta ellis.

Here is my point… I never liked monta ellis (I have to admit) who is a very talented player but not very clever player (in terms of bbiq and offside behavior… maybe he should have gone 1 or 2 years at university…). He is the kind of player that put some stats, win some seasons’ games but who won’t be able to make his team better and win playoffs games. HE SHOULD BE TRADED as he got a great value and before he takes another motorcycle ride…

I would go with a trade and search for a 3 (to put wright as a perfect 6th man) or 5 (to push biedrins and udoh), a team player who can defend and some complementary piece at 1 (a veteran to help curry to learn pg’s duty faster)…. but who… I would try to land bogut first and go after iguodala or kaman if I failed.

Not to many players can produce 24.1 points 5 ass and 2 steals  the way Monta Ellis has in the past two years. Mark Jackson was even quoted saying that hes the 3rd best shooting guard in the league behind kobe and dwayne. Monta can be a good player on a great team if givin the opportunity. Hell hes never played with a big man that could even command any type of threat. He has more elements to his game than he has shown.

What if the OJ for Ellis ever went down?

I feel like Ellis is better than Curry but it seems like Monta is on his way out…i think Iggy would be the best fit next to Curry because he has size/strength and can play the 2 or 3…they can switch him and Wright based off matchups and then when you throw Klay in there, its a decent team with Iggy…I like Mayo but hes too small to really fit on GSW…they need some size and toughness

Do any of you honeslty believe that any player brought in with a reasonable trade is going to make more of an impact on the team than Ellis? This teams problems run much deeper than Ellis, and trading him gives them a new look, but it won’t necessarily make them better. Hoping Thompson will be a good replacement is just wishful thinking. It will be nice to see if he’s even a legitimate starter first before hoping if he can fill such a big role.

you may be right…but the issue is…change is inevitable in this situation.  its a very delicate situation…Ellis is not happy, first he wasnt happy about playing alongside Curry…he ended making the best out of the situation and being a good sport about it.  but after drafting Thompson, he is definitely ready to make an exit.  not easy to replace his statline, but he has high usage and turns the ball over a lot.  Mark Jackson is in a tough position because if they keep him, the team has to show improvement…look at what happened to Smart.  if they unload him, and the team struggles early on, it depends on how much the org is behind Jackson and how patient they can be.  for these reasons, I believe GSW is one of the teams which the lockout is hurting worse.

Im not sure about this I honestly think the gsw office likes monta to stay around but him and curry both needing the ball is the problem and curry playing better when monta is off the court makes monta the odd man out.But there is a but didn’t they have a good prospect at sg in Morrow? Why let him go and draft klay to play the 2 a couple years later over ellis?Gsw has somthing up there sleeve but they need to make more front office move there stuck in a paradox when it comes to getting and letting go talent for example trading randolph who always shown flashes of his talent when getting PT and drafting udoh when randoplh does what he does  plus has an offensive game.

If I were gsw I would go out on a limb for a player like iggy or b roy, any other trade I want more then one player or young players and draft picks if ellis was to be traded.

Iggy for Monta would be a fair trade and allows both teams to fit younger talents namely Curry and Turner into their natural positions. The Bogut trade would also give the Bucks a proven scorer which they need but the trade would probably have to include a GSW big and then someone else from the Bucks to balance things out.

Both these trades would move Iggy to the East which GSW might prefer as it does not put him on a Conference or even a Divisional rival. A wildcard could be Cleveland who might fancy Ellis alongside Rivers perhaps and do have future picks or assets to send to GSW.

Out West the wildcard teams who may look at Ellis could be Utah and Denver who both have some picks due and assets they could maybe do a trade with. Houston also have several tradeable assets but to fit Ellis alongside Martin or to trade for would not make much sense IMO.

Ellis along sides Rivers? As in Austin Rivers  that would be a talented high scoring back court but where would the number one overall Kyrie Fit in? Andris is a good center and has a good fg% he just doesn’t get enough touches. Cant forget david lee either dont forget what he did for the knicks he just was hurt this season I dont think Bogut who is coming off a MAJOR INJURY would be a good trade for Ellis I rather try to get roy coming off his injury Maybe he a still have something  to help gsw get to the play offs and Ellis would help Lamarcus lead the blazers.

I meant Ellis alongside Kyrie Irving not Austin Rivers, I type these entries very quickly and just got the current number one pick mixed up with Doc River’s lad. I guess it was the Duke connection.

It would be a gamble for GSW to take on Brandon Roy with his injury issues but if he is sound then he’s probably an all round better player than Ellis. If Portland did get Ellis then Felton, Ellis, Wallace, Aldridge and Camby would be a nice starting 5 with Matthews,Batum and Babbit from the bench plus maybe even Oden returning.

I still really like Iggy for Ellis though if Philly maybe send a bit of cash to balance out the extra salary that GSW takes on or some minor make weight maybe Charlie Bell’s expiring 2012 deal is added on to even things up. Having Iggy and David Lee at 3 and 4 would give GSW great energy to compliment the young back court whilst Biedrins and Udoh can give the front court depth.

Philly get a slightly younger guy who will give them more scoring and gets Turner full time to SF so they are then set long term at positions 1 to 3.

Also a change of scenery for both players may be good for them after a few years on their present teams.
