Was googling and saw this article about Shabazz.

Back in 2017 he got offered a 4 year $40mill contract, which he turned down as he thought he could get $20mill in free agency  !!!

He then had to sign for the NBA league minimum and now plays in China for a losing 13-27 team. Ah well at least he can be happy putting up 30ppg….

Quite a good article written here before Shabazz was actually drafted…

Doug completely nailed his game — before he ever even played a game in the league. Pretty fascinating how spot on his analysis was — espcially the part where he pointed out that Bazz never passed the ball. Ever.

Something that I’ve beaten to death here.

Not surprised at all he’s out of the league, and the fact he turned down a bunch of money at some point really isn’t that surprising either.

Not sure what’s worst…Him turning down $40 mil or a team offering him $40mil with the lack of $40 mil worth of production on his resume.

Well, Wayne gets minutes in the NBA still.  Yes, it’s the Bulls and they might be trying to actively lose games, but he’s still getting minutes in an NBA rotation.  Wait a minute…maybe the Bulls should sign Bazz and let him "do him".  Much better chance at getting Zion that way, maybe?

Guess who was his agent? hint: same man who told Noel to reject 70M in 4 years from the Mavs.

Same agent who was involved in "The decision" and the whole AD fiasco.

Rich Paul is a really bad agent, he is lucky with his relations that got him superstars, but if I am a relative of a player who doesn’t have that superstar status, I would advise him to stay away from him

Wow that’s pretty bad. I just wonder if Paul is truly to blame in all these cases or if his clients have completely unrealistic views on their value. I remember hearing about the Noel offer and I know he’s never performed well enough to be worth half that much. Did Paul get him that offer only for Noel to say that’s not enough?

Not sure Paul is the blame for this one..Bazz had a huge ego and had a father who was always medling with a huge ego..He was Lavar Ball before Lavar…

Rich Paul is also the guy responsible for KCP’s career.. another guy who turned down big $$$ from his own team (think it was something similar to Noel, maybe 5yr/70+). Safe to say his decisions are more than questionable, although he did get Tristan Thompson 4/82 from the Cavs, but mostly due to the Cavs having no other choice being capped out and having to appease LeBron.

KCP has made $30 over 2 years since he came off his rookie deal so has done okay.

Noel rejecting $70 million over 4 years was crazy given his injury history before you consider the chance to play under a title winning coach and having someone like Dirk to help mentor his offensive game.

I remember back in the mid 2000’s Bonzi Wells turned down $36 million over 5 years and ended up on about $2 million a year.

Idk if you can really blame Rich Paul . If the players actually played to the potential of the contracts they declined they probably would’ve got paid more but Shabazz is out of the league now and Noel just ended up not being worth that much once teams saw him play more .But there’s instances where players decline their first offer and end up getting a big paychapa afterwards after putting in the work for it.
