Joel Embiid’s right foot isn’t healing properly, according to the Sixers medical staff. This is not good. Okafor’s floor should definitely be 3rd to Phila if it wasn’t already.

@WojYahooNBA: Yahoo Sources: Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid suffers setback in healing process, must sit-out thru further evaluation. http://t.co/yLHyP8xEvT

@ChrisMannixSI: Joel Embiid has experienced "less healing than anticipated," Sixers GM Sam Hinkie says in a statement. Says Embiid will pause training.

Maybe his foot heals if the 76ers draft Ben Simmons.

They should probably hold him out of next year too.

Noel could probably use a full year of strengthening for his knee next year.

It will probably be difficult to negotiate with Saric’s team. They may need to wait a year.

Oh, and Okafor could probably use a year of focus on conditioning (Russell and Zinger could probably use a year focused on strengthening their upper body too).

So maybe the Okafor and Porzingis to Philly rumors aren’t crazy as we think. Maybe they don’t trust Embiid’s foot and this is why they might take Okafor is he is there at 3 or take Porzingis if Towns & Okafor go 1&2.

This seems ridiculous…but maybe its not. Maybe he really does have something wrong with his foot. Either way they should draft Russell if he is available.

Ive had foot injuries my whole life. Theyre just so slow to heal and often you technically could play, but you lose all your explosiveness.

Theres probably a lot of guys playing thru foot pain in the nba, especially bigmen, and it is a key reason why guys have ‘down seasons’.

Yao Ming’s early exit. If I remember correctly, Rik Smits had terrible feet as well.

Ugh terrible news for 76ers fans. The nature of Embiid’s foot and back injuries always concerned me so I’m not terribly shocked go see him continue to have setbacks. Hopefully Embiid will be healthy at some point next season and can have a healthy career.

Hinkie never ever makes statements about injured players progress, the fact that he released a full press release this time has got me suspicious. Could this all just be a smoke screen to scare teams into thinking he will take Okafor if the Lakers take Russell?

Nothing will make me forgot his one month stretch from mid-December to late January. He literally destroyed Alex Kirk in the New Mexico game and just went on a tear until he started to wear down in late January. Maybe he is injury-prone, didn’t want to believe it but man, things keep happening.

Hmmm… Something doesn’t seem right with this lol. I think this could be a smoke screen based on the timing of the announcement, etc.

Embiid has had no issues, no pain and has been going hard/increasing his workout intensity for quite some time, hasn’t he? I mean, what does "less healing" really mean exactly? Like it doesn’t mean a whole lot on it’s own. The season doesn’t start for months. That kid will be playing opening night.

Embiid went back into a walking boot in March because of a setback of some type.  It might be more minor than it appears but things with his foot aren’t going as well as they’d like.

Dang, 76ers can’t catch a break. It does sort of sound like a possible smoke screen with it being this close to the draft though.

Hopefully for 76ers fan and Embiid’s sake it’s simply a smoke screen. It’s really unfortunate otherwise.

Still thinking this whole story might be a little over blow but it sucks that he’ll (Embiid) will probably miss the summer league.

Never trust a big w/ bad foot or bad back…

7′ is abnormally tall, and it puts more strain and pressure on your feet / back / joint… thta’s why most bigs dont recover well from these types of injuries.

I can really see 76ers taking Porzingis @ 3rd.  they would and should even do it EVEN if Embiid is healthy, why?  Orlando is coveted for Porzingis, and 76ers can easily trade Porzingis to Orlando for their 5th pick (where they can grab either Mudiay or Russel) and get some more assets in return.  That’s just a smarter move.
