Honestly think this is an amazing trade for all sides, considering the circumstances that Dwight Howard doesn’t seem to envision a future in Orlando…

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3tsh3ys

First up, the Lakers obviously get the 3-time defensive player of the year, and a quality point guard which will be needed even more so now that they won’t be running much of the triangle.

The Magic get arguably the next closest thing to Howard the league can offer (when healthy), only younger and cheaper.  They also get an excellent prospect in Tristan Thompson who can develop into their power forward of the future.  With the team they have, this is big because they won’t be able to get many players with this kind of youth and potential, because the contracts of Arenas and Turkoglu won’t allow them to rebuild, because they’re untradeable.  Also, I’d think that the Lakers will have to give up multiple draft picks to Orlando here.

The Jazz do addition by subtraction here by unloading from their crowded frontcourt and getting immediate cap relief with the expiring contract of Antawn Jamison, who’d likely get bought out before the end of the season and sign on for the vet’s minimum for a contender.  They allow their frontcourt of the future (Favors, Millsap, Kanter) to shine and also pick up an exciting backcourt player in Shannon Brown who could start for them at the 2.

Last but not least, the Cavaliers get a legitimate star to build around in the post-LeBron era while also clearing up some more playing time for Kyrie Irving by trading Sessions away.

    Tell me what you think!

I’m a Jazz fan and I know that I am in the minority on this but I like the trade for them. I don’t know that I like the idea of Brown unless he continues to make the 2 to 3 million a year that he is making now. I like Jefferson but my personal feelings are that his numbers do not equal wins. I could go on and on about that but to keep this short I would rather have a lineup on Favors/Kanter/Milsap rather than Favors/Kanter/Jefferson. Milsap is much more of a team player and he plays much better defense than Jefferson.

With the loss of AK’s atrocious contract and the possibility of getting some decent return for Jefferson I like the Jazz future. I would only add a future 2nd round pick to the trade for the Jazz. With the influx of young hopefully talented players and cap space the Jazz could make this rebuilding phase happen very very quickly.
