WizardofOzParticipantSad. He would’ve been a very good player if he never tore his ACL in HS.

Johnny ChillNo Roe! When MSU plays Duke…gonna be easier game than expected.
Can’t wait to see Izzo cuss out at his players, then cry.

JSakes22Participantdont be a d!ick Johnny Chill….
Very sad to see this happen to players. They work so hard and have such high asperations of making it to the NBA and its just sometimes not in the cards for them.
I hope he is able to find another successful path in life.

A.M.G.ParticipantReal sad. This guy was a stud in high school before the injuries. This whole thing reminds me of Jason Frasor at Villanova. It’s actually really impressive that Roe played 3 seasons and was a solid player, given how serious his knee problems are. He would have been an NBA player without the injuries, but no use dwelling on that. I hope he finds success in life, and having a university degree should very much help with that.
I suppose this opens up a lot more playing time for Adreian Payne and Derrick Nix.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t get it… He only tore his ACL back in highschool, right? Or has he had other knee injuries since then?
I mean, this isn’t the 50’s or 60’s… An ACL injury doesn’t end your career anymore.

WizardofOzParticipant^^It was more than that. I just found out that he had surgery on both knee before he went to Michigan St. He also tore a meniscus in his right knee in 2009, but he hid it from the coaches and played through the injury throughout the season.

Da1potParticipantKnee injuries are the worst and will effect you the rest of your life regardless….. Simply put, they are the most harmful kinds of injuries you can get in basketball…

PlatParticipantyou never wanna see this happen to anybody

JNixonParticipantHe has to reinvent himself as a player after his knee surgeries. He went from a Thaddeus Young-type mismatch scoring combo forward to a physical, strong undersized 4-man who did the dirty work for MSU. He of course never lived up to his HS hype due to his injuries, but he did develop into a solid role player in his 3 years. This is sad stuff.

Andrew1984ParticipantI saw him play in high school several times and he was extremely unimpressive from a skill standpoint. He couldn’t use his right hand at all, he couldn’t put the ball on the floor one time, and he never scored at all outside of six or seven feet. He never put up crazy numbers in high school either. He was always right around 20 ppg, all on dunks and put-backs.
At the time, people were saying he was the next great Ohio HS basketball player, next in the line of OJ Mayo, Bill Walker, etc., and I never saw it. I saw those guys play and he was absolutely nowhere near the players that they were in high school.
