Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins has been jailed on domestic abuse complaints, according to Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office records.
He was taken to the Oklahoma County jail. He is being held on complaints of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor, a jail official said.
Oklahoma City police were called at about 4:40 p.m. to the 2300 block of NW 180th near North Pennsylvania Avenue. An official police incident report is not yet available, Lt. Arthur Gregory said.
“From what I understand it was a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship,” Gregory said. “And I don’t know who the child was, if it was theirs, her’s or his.”
Liggins averaged 1.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 39 games with the Thunder last season, his first in OKC. He is on a non-guaranteed contract for the upcoming season. Training camp begins in late September.
“We are aware of the situation and take this matter seriously,” Sam Presti said in an official statement from the team. “We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

DeAndre Liggins’ chances to make the Oklahoma City Thunder roster were slim for the upcoming season and after his arrest last week his fate was sealed. Friday the Thunder placed Liggins on waivers. The roster now stands at 15 and it might be set for the season, even before the start of training camp.
From Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman: “With his dismissal, Ryan Gomes, a journeyman who was not in the league last year, stands the most to gain. Gomes was signed … to a non-guaranteed contract, meaning he must make the team to earn his salary. He was expected to enter camp competing with Liggins, center Daniel Orton and other possible training camp invitees for the last spot. The Thunder also drafted forward Grant Jerrett out of Arizona with the 40th overall pick, but it’s unclear what the team’s plans for him are.”
The waiving of Liggins also moved the Thunder below the luxury tax line and they should be able to stay just below the threshold this season carrying a full 15-man roster. They may also elect to start with only 13 players if Gomes, Orton and Jerrett struggle during the preseason.
