Mr. BasketballParticipantSigning that offer sheet was so dumb. We all know the Clippers will match this offer, Golden State knew it too. This is just Deandre Jordan being incredibly greedy. Clippers offered him 5 years, 40 million dollars, which is more than he deserves, and he has the audacity to go out and sign an offer sheet for 2 million dollars a year more with the Warriors?! Given that Deandre knows the Clippers were going to match any offer sheet he signed, he should have done what was in the Clippers’ best interests. I mean why the hell would a player limit his team’s flexibility if he wants to win? The obvious answer is that either Deandre cared more about the money than winning, or he was too selfish to realize the implications of signing an offer sheet. Furthermore, this will now make it harder for the Clippers to deal Jordan if they choose to involve him in a trade for a guy like Chris Paul or Dwight Howard.
Jordan should have shown gratitude toward the Clippers for taking a chance on him when 29 other teams passed on him in the draft a few years ago and then giving him all of the opportunities to make it in this league, but instead Deandre decided that he did not owe them anything. His action shows that he does not put the team before himself, but rather values money over team success. Fact is, 8 million dollars a year is plenty to live on, is more than Deandre Jordan deserves, is the amount for Deandre that is in the Clippers’ best interests, and as it is a forgone conclusion that he will just end up with LAC no matter what, it is the amount that is in Deandre Jordan’s best interests.

Michael.S.ParticipantThey shouldn’t match, He wasn’t worth the initial offer anyways. They have other guys to worry about paying.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 8:04pm #613928
natedogggParticipantwould actually be funny if they didnt match, then the warriors would be paying 20 mil a year to 2 guys without a post move between them

Specialt25ParticipantClippers are in a tough situation. They really love deandre and so does Blake Griffin.
If they match this offer it would be Idiotic on his production alone and towards there cap room to sign a big free agent in the future.
The clippers cant win a championship with this lineup now and deandre making 10 a year.
Another decision is to let him go and sign a big fish free agent next year to play alongside griffin and gordon.
If Dwight Howard signs with the Lakers than Dwill probably wont resign with the Nets.
Maybe go after Dwill next year as the PG.

cobi15ParticipantYall can’t be serious! When u get to the nba it is about money…remember the nba is a billion dollar business! When u get hurt or your knees goes bad who is going to take care of you….yourself! Just look how the knicks did billups! Come on yall its a business! Jordan is doing whats best for his future!

llperezWho says he feels loyal to the clippers and is willing to turn down even just a couple mill? Maybe he is fine going to the warriors and has no reason to turn down cash.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 8:29pm #613938
marcusfizer21ParticipantIf Jordan is selfish, you can call out Tyson Chandler too… He’s paid $60 million for 4 years instead of staying with Dallas for a shot at another run.. NBA will always be associated with millions of dollars no matter how anyone looks at it…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 8:30pm #613940
OllstarParticipantFirst, its hard not to match that offer if your the Clippers. But if they decide not to they have Kaman who usually puts in close to Allstar seasons everyother year. He is in his contract year so he might play hard to get a good contract next year. 10 mill for 26 mins/game is a lot. If they do let him go hopefully they can work a sign and trade.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 8:34pm #613943
Da1potParticipantThe Clippers like him, but the fact is that he is being overpaid by another team should make it easier for the Clippers to not get impatient and spend unneseccary money on a player that they might potentially replace with Dwight Howard or someone else. Is Chris Kaman just irrelevant now??? He was an all-star just two seasons ago and is a better player than Jordan is right now. Jordan is overrated and if he’s not a top 10 center, why should he get paid like one???

butidonthavemoneyYou know what else is selfish? How he isn’t planning on donating $39 million to charity. Living on $250,000 a year is completely feasible, right? That’s more than enough for any person, and such a donation would certainly change the world for the better.
Hm, I guess everybody’s selfish.

tuck243Participantand if they do match it and trade it for him, can someone please explain to me how the Clippers package of players including this terrible contract is better than the first proposal sent to the league?

PrettyBoyPeeWeeParticipantHow is that a selfish move, hell he tryna get paid just like ever other free agent smh, the Clipper can match if they want, they should of offered him a contract 1st anyway.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 10:14pm #613966
Bmore_DCParticipantyea not very selfish at all…do you follow pro sports dude? smh
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/10/2011 - 10:14pm #613967
apb540ParticipantPBPW, I think they did offer him a contract. And tough to say he is being "selfish." Sorry that he agreed to go to the person who was willing to pay him the most, which to DeAndre might mean who values him the most.

Mr. BasketballParticipant@tuck
The pick from houston going to NO would have been the Knicks’ first rounder…not lotto pick.

thparadoxParticipantIt is selfish. In a good way. This is capitalism.
The Clippers should let the Warriors have him if it’s overpriced. That’s the way to deal with overbidding at an auction… don’t bid.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 4:38am #614003
IndianaBasketballParticipantTough… The Warriors just kicked LAC in the n*ts…
You can’t blame Jordan for taking as much money as he could… But on the other hand, damn man… LAC gave him a GREAT offer that still gave them wiggle room to add pieces to the roster.
LAC still has to extend Gordon. I wonder how he’ll feel being paid less than Jordan? Pelinka, Gordon’s agent, isn’t going to play soft ball with Olshey just because they just overpaid BOTH Butler and Jordan.

sheltwon3ParticipantI am shocked that people who have never been in the situation where they could leave 6 or 8 million on the table make a judgement on someone who didnt. So of you guys make never see 1 million so why would DeAndre leave that much money to stay with the Clippers. If Clippers want him, they will match. He is young and may soon be able to do a lot of what Chandler can and Chandler is getting paid more. I would feel different if GSW sucked but they have a lot of talent and he could be the final piece or one of the final pieces. The have a point guard, shooting guard, they have a solid small forward. David Lee is no slouch. Now they would have a solid big man. They just need to work on their bench. Mark Jackson will have them playing hard. GSW is in a similiar situation to Clippers except they do not have Griffin.
Curry>Mo Williams
Ellis>=Gordon
Wright>Aminu
Lee<Griffin
DeAndre
Also GSW is not far from LAC so he can still hang out with his homie Griffin from time to time.
Whatever DeAndre does is cool with me from a pure basketball front because he doesnt lose much with this move except millions if he take Clippers original offer.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 6:13am #614025
IndianaBasketballParticipantLAC has already matched the offer Sheltwon.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantgood luck to both The Warriors and Clippers, because they are making moves that are completly senseless…8 to 10 million per for an over rated 2nd round draft pick…How much do Blake and Eric ask for??? 40 Million per season!!! LMAO….

JunkYardDogParticipantwhat is going to happen to chris kaman ? are the clippers going to cut him, amnestied him, trade him ?
lot’s of team could be very interested in bringing him : boston, dallas, miami, philly, SA, portland….

sheltwon3ParticipantI saw that after I posted because I was multi tasking but I figure they would.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 6:25am #614033
IndianaBasketballParticipantKaman will be traded and that’s for certain.
Chris Paul won’t be a Laker. He won’t be a Knick. And he will be traded SOON. That’s puts LAC in the forefront. Paul has said he’d love to play with Griffin, Gordon and Jordan. I think a deal will get done soon (as soon as LAC throws in Minny’s 2012 pick) and Kaman will be included in the deal.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 6:28am #614034
aamir543Participant^Kaman has an expiring contract. Unless out of nowhere a guy like Nene says "sign me" he is staying in LAC for the season, and I still think he has some value to that team.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 6:31am #614035
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantCP3 does not want to play for the Other LA team, no matter what…He can say all that "I’d like to play with Griffin" stuff through the Media, but what e really means is "I’d love to play with Griffin, on any other Team then the Clippers"
Chris Paul is about to become the most Jaded Superstar in the NBA, look at what he’s been through…Now he’s going to sign off on a Trade that would send to one of the Worst ran Pro Sports Teams EVER and work for an owner who is a well known Racist and Bigot…Yeah right…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 8:12am #614078
BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt was dumb for a team with Andris Biedrins, Ekpe Udoh, and Jeremy Tyler to offer basically the same type of player $10 million over 4 years. It is the kind of move a team that has made the playoffs once in seventeen years makes. Who bails them out? Who else but the Clippers.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 8:57am #614085
kanyedabestParticipantMr. basketball u r an idiot…. deandre jordan was a 2nd round pick, every team passed on him once…. good for him to be trying to make as much as he can… he could have easily been cut and selling dope on the street, so he deserves to get paid
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 9:13am #614086

"When u get hurt or your knees goes bad who is going to take care of you….yourself!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. If DeAndre Jordan has a career ending injury (hopefully not, of course) are the Clippers going to say "Aww, well he gave us good years, we should help him pay his medical and insurance bills." No, they’ll turn the other cheek and never see DeAndre again. He’s looking out for his future and if the owners wanna play by taking money from the players with the new CBA, players are going to show that they also have power with situations like CP3’s and DeAndre’s.Plus, it’s called leverage guys. It’s used ALL the time. You get the best deal you can get and you sign on the dotted line.

IndianaBasketballParticipant4 years @ $43 million for DeAndre Jordan. Lmao and smdh @ the same time…
I know Jordan is Griffin’s best friend, but damn…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/11/2011 - 6:35pm #614349
marcusfizer21Participant$10 million per season… that’s awful lot for a guy who gives them 7 and 7… Don’t forget Eric Gordon is still on their list…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 12/12/2011 - 3:43am #614417
surveParticipantWe are all looking at what DeAndre has brought to the table thus far. The teams interested in him are looking at what he can do should he continue to improve. That 7 and 7 can easily be 10 and 10 with a couple of blocks. That is invaluable to a team who doesnt need an additional scorer….but an inside defensive prescence who can be a force on the glass. Not to mention, he and Blake form the most athletic PF-C combo in the league. Its not like Jordan is in his 30’s.
