high floorParticipantAre there any updates with him recently? The latest I heard is that he’s forgone the rest of the season to rehab & get ready for the draft. He signed with Klutch Sports too, right?
Anyways, Darius to me is an interesting prospect. His shooting numbers are great, and IMO he would be best suited playing on a team that already has an established ball dominant player. Not saying he can’t be a high usage PG….. but his off ball game is intriguing. His t.o’s are a bit high, but I don’t like to use that metric as a reflection of a freshman’s ability to handle the rock. If you watch the small sample size of games, his handle seems pretty decent.
His size is just ok, but i’ve gone away from using size at the PG position as a major advantage. See MCW & Elfrid Payton for reference. Darius just knows how to get to his spots on the floor.
What are the rest of the forum’s thoughts on him? His offensive game seems versatile and could translate quite well to the pros.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe way the league is trending now, he’s definitely an intriguing prospect. He might have the best overall handles in the draft. He has a quick release and is very adept at creating his own shot off the dribble. And he has range that extends well beyond the 3 point line. I’m not saying he’s the next steph curry by any means, but there are quite a few similarities in terms of skill set and physical profile.
I don’t think the acl injury is likely to affect him long-term but it may hurt his draft stock because there is just such a small sample size to evaluate his game and he will be unlikely to participate in any pre-draft workouts. The biggest question mark will probably be his ability to defend at the next level. There will also be questions about whether he can finish at the rim at a high level. He will probably need to develop his playmaking skills a little more to be a full time lead guard. He seems to be more of a scorer than distributor at this point.
I still think there’s a possibility he goes lottery if a team is willing to gamble, but he could slide toward the back half of the first round as well. Teams like dallas (if they keep their pick), Chicago, Phoenix, Orlando, and the Lakers could all be intriguing fits roster wise imo. He’s probably going to require a bit of patience but could wind up being a steal.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Grizzlies keep their pick and are looking to move on from the Conley Era then he might be someone we look at — the local newspaper actually mentioned it.
I haven’t really watched him play and now he is hurt. But, some people really like him.
May be less "raw" than Ja Morant although I think they are different kinds of players. I think either guy could end up going between 2 and 10 although Ja is supposedly a "lock" for top 5.

Memphis MadnessParticipantRereading Dazzling Dunks post, maybe Darius Garland is an option in a "trade down scenario" if the Suns, Magic, or Bulls want a point guard.

OhCanada-ParticipantWouldnt be surprised if Boston traded for Conley using some of their picks/young players if they learn Irving is out.
