DukeDaSquadParticipantIts hard to ignore skin color when making comparisons but I think he has a similar playing style to Paul Milsap. A Stretch 4 that can play inside and can also take people off the dribble. Hellenson is probably about 2 inches taller

sweaterflexParticipantEllenson looks to be most similar to Ryan Anderson. Kevin Love was far more efficient in college, Hansborough never had any range on his jumper, and Paul Millsap was a defensive beast (still is). Ellenson is a worse shooter and better rim defender than Anderson, but his role will probably be similar.

celticsthugyes Anderson is his ceiling. I said hansboro as I see him as the classic not to athletic white guy whos not quite good enough to start but hustles his ass off and stays in the league for 10 years. kind of like nick collison

BiggysmallsParticipantI actually like that Millsap comparison from an offensive standpoint. Haven’t noticed much from Ellenson on the other end where Millsap was a beast at least coming out of college. His defense and rebounding was what got him going in the league early on and his offense has developed A TON.
Gosh I love the "let’s comp him to every white player imaginable" going on here. He plays almost nothing like Hansborough or Collison. Doesn’t mean he’ll be a great player in the league but those guys are like the definition of "lunch pale, role players"…Ellenson isn’t that, even though he’s white.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI actually think the scalabrine comparison on this site isn’t that bad. If you watch tape of scal at USC and compare it with ellenson their games are actually very similar. Both around 6-9 6-10 with similar builds, versatile skill sets and nice perimeter games. Both below average athletes. I think scal had a slightly better feel for the game but ellenson is slightly more athletic. Overall, though they have very similar games and I can’t really think of a better comparison. And it has nothing to do with looks.
I know scalabrines career was kind of looked at as a joke by many, and some might say it doesn’t bode well for ellenson to be compared to him but I disagree. Scal hung around the league for a decade and was a serviceable player on a lot of very good teams. I think ellenson could be a very good role player for a long time too, but I would be surprised if he ever developed into more than that.

mamadouParticipantHenry is taller, way taller than all your names, he’s not the undersized combo foward millsap is, the elite stretch 4 anderson is or the banger love was.
Millsap was the most foul prone player in the league before cousins, he started to shoot the 3’s at 28YO, late bloomer, he changed his game a lot(3-4, range, D, assists).
B-Scal(the rapper) was an asbolute nba scrub, drafted at 23yo, ellenson is 19…hopefully he’ll be better than 3-2 39% FG in his nba career if he’s a lotto pick.
Ceiling, maybe a troy murphy(14th 2001) with ball handling skills… a bargnani with better rebounding(worst 7 footer all time, i guess), attitude and without the expectations ?

benny15Participantthis is probably not the most popular oppinion, but i honestly see Andray Blatche in him. their sizes are simillar, differ by an inch or so, both have good handles for their size, both have good shooting mechanics and both are nimble for a bigman

mamadouParticipantGood interracial comp my lord.
Blatche was dumb, TO prone, foul prone but a skilled 6’11 bigmen, not a good defender, the game of a 6th men instant offense, stat stuffer.
Smarter, more professional, better teammate andray blatche with 3 pts range is a legit comp.
Blatche a 21 pts 8 rebs 3,5 assists 1,5 steal 1 block starter at age 23 for a terrible wizards team(which led to Wall).
Blatche was supposed to be the next Odom, Ellenson could be a rich man Blatche.
