with news that capela is out 4-6 weeks, what do the rockets do now?

read top 4 trade targets would be dedmon, kaminsky, robin lopez and tristan thompson.  the rockets have an expiring contract in brandon knight and still have marquiss chriss (not sure if anyone still sees potential in him). do you make a run via trade or give chriss a shot?

Deadline Day is under 3 weeks now so I could see players being on the block or possibly looking to get mutual buyouts from lottery teams. The Rockets I think will see how Nene and Chriss go for a week or two then decide what to do. If someone is brought out – they would likely pounce quickly.

Bringing in Dedmon wouldnt be a bad idea. An athletic rebounding tough guy is what they need

I actually think Dedmon is a better player than Capela.

Just a hunch really based on what I’ve seen from him. Not a knock on Capela I just like Dedmon’s game alot. I think you put him in meaningful games on a team with a goal and he will look alot better. Give him Harden instead of Young and his FG% will skyrocket as well. Harden draws so much attention on those pick and rolls. Dedmon would also be able to pick and pop, and space the floor to three. I will say this. The one reason why I would give Capela the edge is because of his offensive rebounding. Averages twice as many as Dedmon per 36 minutes.

The offseason where Dedmon left San Antonio and signed with Atlanta he improved his game alot. Alot of this hasnt shown because he has struggled with injures and has played for Atlanta tanking team that has undergone an overhaul during his time there. This year hes making 1.1 threes per game at 36% and shooting 85% of his free throws. Although his shooting percentage is down to 46% alot of this is because of the extra 3 point shots and he doesnt have a PG capable of getting the ball to him in successful positions or good chemistry with Trae Young yet.

Both Capela and Dedmon have a very large amount of their made FG’s assisted. 81% for Dedmon and 80% for Capela. Theres two big differences here though. 1st of all Capela also gets alot of baskets from offensive rebounding that Dedmon doesnt get. 2nd being who is distributing the majority of those assists Young vs. Harden.

So I would say defensively its a wash. Offensively Dedmon gives more options and can repicate what Capela is strong at. However rebounding Capela has an advantage that Dedmon cant come close to matching. Matter of preference and I would prefer Dedmon.
