BKKnicksfanParticipantCeltics send: Ray Allen
Bulls send: 28th pick, 30th pick and Omar Asik
Bulls: You got a shooter. Ray Allen could fit perfectly opposite Derrick Rose as the shooter. You also keep alot of the core that won 61 games. You throw Allen into the mix and the Bulls might be able to take it all next season. Also, the Bulls still have a solid second round pick to replace Asik.
Celtics: Asik could be a rotational big man who can come in and get 20-25 cheap mintues. By moving Allen, yes you moved a piece of the original big 3, but you walk into the NBA draft with the 25th pick, 28th pick and 30th pick. If the Celtics can hit on those picks, they could be right back at it. Also, the Celtics can find a cheap shooting guard in FA to put at the SG spot.
Thoughts?

sbealer22ParticipantI am not sure if he would accept a Sign and Trade. He might prefer to just go therer w/o going through boston, but IDK

TyroberParticipantWhat are you going to do with the 28th and 30th picks in a weak draft? I don’t know what the Celtics should do next year. KG and Pierce are still under contract. Are they going to resign them after next year? If they are they might as well keep Allen.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI’m almost positive Allen signed a 2 year deal with a player option. I think he’s still a Celtic
Also, it’s not a weak draft, it’s weak for stars. In terms of role players and potential starters, this draft is solid.

B-ball fanParticipantI just can’t see them doing that. I don’t think it would be bad, but they still don’t seem like they want to disrupt what they have now. I may be wrong, but I think they would rather keep Ray Allen, whose contributions are not minimal and look for a FA center and/or draft a center, rather than get Asik and be left to use the draft/FA to find a starter at sg.

BasterdInABasketParticipantThey realistically have 1 more shot at a title with thjis core. They would either keep allen or make a different trade with another piece or two… Asik and two late round picks arent going to put them over the top next year if they couldnt win the title the last 2 years.

apb540ParticipantRay Allen is not guaranteed to be a free agent. He has a player option for this offseason. I doubt he opts out thou cuz the new CBA is going to lower everyones salary.

knicksfan7ParticipantThe ideas are great, but I don’t see the Celtics trading away Ray Allen to the Bulls a team they are competing with.

What The DevilParticipantThe Celtics have one more year with this core to do anything. After that it’s basically over and they should just let the contracts expire instead of trying to get quick fixes and create cap space for free agent signings
