I like that team but they are not a fifth…
Heat, Pacers, Bulls, Nets, Knicks…this is not in any order just the five best teams in the East next season as of right now…

I guess you’re right but I’m pretty sure we’d be in the playoffs.

Since the cavs are trying to adjust to the modern “small ball” game, they should go after Iggy. He would fit this team nicely and would start from day 1. He’s a veteran presence this team desperately needs.

Other free agents they should pursue are former cav players Mo Williams and JJ Hickson. Since there are rumors about LBJ coming back, the cavs would have all the post LeBron era players back. It would probably entice him to come back. What a great family reunion that would be. Hickson can even start at C over Tyler Zeller.

PG – Kyrie Irving / Mo Williams

SG – Dion Waiters / Sergey Karasev / C.J. Miles

SF – Andre Iguodala / Alonzo Gee

PF – Tristan Thompson / Anthony Bennett / Kevin Jones

C – Anderson Varejao / JJ Hickson / Tyler Zeller

That’s easily a 5th seed in the east!!

I don’t see Karasev coming over right away. But yeah they could probably be a 6th-8th seed with Iggy. I feel like Iggy has better options than the Cavs though. (he really can’t afford to wait for the Cavs to turn out, he isn’t getting any younger)

I believe Karasev already stated he was coming over right away.

While their performance in the playoffs was underwhelming they are easily one of the 5 best teams in the east with melo, chandler, felton and a healthy iman shumpert. Plus whoever else they pick in free agency and a possibly healthy amare. I just can’t see them lower than the 5th seed with that talent.

Without Smith they are still one of the top five teams in the east. Who are you putting a head of them?

If anything Knicks will be better of next year, Melo should be healthier, Shumpert will be nearly 100% from his ACL tear, Chandler played with a fractured wrist and he doesn’t need surgery so he will be a way better defender like the year he won his defensive player of the year, and honest they do not need JR and his ridiculous shot selection, NO JR means more shots for guys like Felton, Novak, Copeland, Shumpert. Also they did great at the draft by getting Tim Hardaway Jr and by picking up CJ Leslie was a huge boost for their bench.
      Whole team
      Pg: Felton/ Prigioni
      Sg: Shumpert/ Hardaway Jr.
      Sf: Copeland/ Novak/ Leslie
      Pf: Melo/ Amare
      C: Chandler/ Martin

I would take a gamble on Bynum if he isnt asking for too much and still getting iggy if they can afford it. I say this because they need better scoring at center because varejao isnt going to cut it with especially with Thompson next to him. But if they could get them both they could have Kyrie, Waiters, Iggy, thompson, Bynum with Bennett, Felix, Zeller, Gee, and Ellington coming off the bench. Its a BIG risk with the Bynum theory but just something to think about.

Al to me is a perfect fit for the Cavs. He does a lot of the little things. Is a willing passer. And can play lock down D. Plus they can mix and match with lineups. I don’t like Mo Williams coming back. I would look to sign Jarrett Jack to back up Irving. Williams wants to start, Jack knows his roll and does it well.

Another player the Cavs should look to sign is Tony Allen. Played in big games. Again a player that does so much for your team without even being on the floor. If the Cavs signed AI, Jack and Allen.

    PG- Irving / Jack
    SG- Waiters / Karasev ( Combo 2/3 ) / Allen / Miles
    SF- Iguodala / Bennett ( Combo 3/4 ) / Gee
    PF- Thompson / Bennett ( Combo 3/4 ) / Jones
    C- Varejao / Zeller

They with this team would be Denver East with a superstar in Irving witch would be scary. 10 deep without playing Jones, Gee or Miles.

My starting lineup would be. Irving, Allen, Iguodala, Thompson and Zeller. Second unit being Jack, Waiters, Karasev, Bennett and Varejao. From their you can go anywhere. 3 guards Irving, Jack Waiters… 2 bigs Zeller and Varejao. Go big Irving, AI, Bennett, Thompson, Zeller.

Would be a fun team to watch.
