    Contingent on the Cavs not getting one of the first two picks, who do you think is a better fit/prospect? I’m not technically a Cavs fan but watching the decisions of an up and coming team has always been compelling for me and I’m from Ohio. I admittedly haven’t watched much of either besides highlights and their first round tournament knockouts but I think the Cavs do go SF this year and these two are the cream of this years crop. They’re set at PG and I think SG, SF is open, PF is open (not sold on Thompson) and C (Noel would be great for them but he’s gone by 2). Thoughts…

    Porter is probably the better fit for that team seeing as he can do a lot and has an all around game. He also fits a need because they are severely lacking a small forward. But I’d love to see Anthony Bennett on that team. If it wasn’t for the fact that they already have Tristan Thompson at pF I would def recommend the pick

    Of course don’t know what they are going to do, but I would choose Porter as the pick. I think they could use a bit more experience and a more well rounded player now. I can imagine that Bennett will reap more benefits on the long term, but I seriously think that when healthy the Cavs can play for a play off spot next year.

    Assuming Nerlens is not an option (I’m not sold he’ll be gone by three, Charlotte needs more offensive power, BMAC, and Orlando seems to be set in the front court and could really use a PG, Smart) they should 100% take Otto Porter. Anthony Bennett looks like Derrick Williams all over again, a tweener who won’t be able to find his groove. Otto Porter is the do-it-all forward who could take this team to the next level. Also, if you aren’t sold on Thompson, you must not be watching him. He’s fractions of a rebound from averaging a double-double in just his second year. He’s made tremendous improvement to his game and will really come out next season I believe – he’s already been mentioned as a potential repeat all-star.

    Porter for sure. I’m not sold on Thompson either, but I still think he’s better than Bennet. Cavs don’t need 2 undersized PFs anyway.

      i dont think they really expect much from thompson anymore. he just needs to develop into a glue guy type player ie. amir johnson kinda guy. if he can do that then they will be a very good team for years to come especially if they can draft otto porter.

    To me the Nerlens Noel if he is there, and if not they go otto porter. The cavs need a center and a SF so either of them would work. Varajao is getting older and Zeller is not a starter. Tristen Thompson improved this year and looks like a solid starter, and he needs to develop a solid jumper. So there is no way they take bennett. Otto porter would be great fit too for them.

    I’m partial to Anthony Bennett. He has a really diverse set of skills and a nice feel for the game. He seemed to skate through games at times though. Porter is probably the safer pick, but Bennett has more upside. Granted, I didn’t see as much of Georgetown this year as I did of UNLV, so I could be a little biased. Porter just seems like a future role player to me. I think the Jeff Green comps tossed around are pretty accurate, and he’s not much more than a complimentary piece.

    In the backcourt they have a FP and they have a guy who thinks he’s a star, they needs that team player at the SF spot and otto is the guy, high IQ, all around game, doesn’t request a lot of touches.
    A big Al in the post, and some shooters off the bench ala dunleavy and that will do it…

    I’m probably the biggest Bennett fan on this site, but Porter is a perfect fit for the Cavs.

    How much does knowing that there are potentially 2 franchise level small forward prospects (Wiggins, Parker) in the next draft class effect a team like the Cavs this year? And should it effect teams decisions this year?

    @moochiee.
    Contrary to the cats, magic, suns….Cavs will really improve and they’ll be PO contenders next year(weak east help to believe), adding 2 vets, 2 rooks, internal upside and the needed depth, they won’t be in that top 3 hunt.
    It won’t and it shouldn’t affect any decision.

    From what I’ve seen, Bennett is a SF. He’s a heavier set player thank makes you think back to the basket automatically but I think his skill set is more suited for a pro SF. He’s surprisingly agile and a lil quicker than you would expect plus a nice touch from deep and the potential to develop a more consistent midrange game. I also can see the Cavs competing for the 8th spot so probably no shot at Wiggins or out of shape body Parker. Good points tho, seems like more people sold on Porter.

    I just don’t trust big men that only dunk with 2 hands….sorry shows a major flaw to me. But then again I said the same thing about Hickson and he looked sumn like great in Rip City this year so I could be wrong again.
