 Is everyone still high on Cam Reddish as a 1 and done?

I know its hard playing on that team with 3 of the top 10 players in his class. Especially playing with RJ Barrett who takes a ton of shots (bad shots at that). But there has been plenty of games where he is invisible. Mock boards still have him as a top 5 pick but I see alot of Ben McClemore in him. 

I kow he wont stay another year cause he is guarranteed a lottery oick but I do hope he picks it up cause he has the talent

 Like you mentioned it’s hard to get in the game when you have RJ taking 22 shots (very questionable shots but hey he has the confidence to take them) and then Zion taking the second most..they’re using him as a spot up 3 point shooter. He’ll be a one and done, hopefully show GM’s he’s verstile and he’ll be ok.

was his inconsistency and it still is. Sometimes he plays like he doesn’t care and had some very bad outings like his 5pts on 2/12 FG against Hartford, 9pts 1as 3to on 3/11 FG against Princeton or his last game against Texas Tech with 8pts 6tos 0as on 1/7.

Of course he has some impressive physical tools and skills but you can’t pick in the top 5 someone I think is more of a complementary player than a potential franchise and who can’t be a consistent glue guy and shooter.

This was his weakness, he have all the tools you want but the inconsistency and motor and switching it on and off, that is his weakness, if you’re a franchise with a top 5 pick are you willing to risk it with him? with that talent? there were many draftees before with that kind of inconsistency, I remember wiggins before, but in terms of where they are before I think cam was more skilled the same age as wiggins before.

 You either standout or get pushed to the back of the pack.. The issue with playing 2 other top 5 potential lottery picks is they want to show they can be the man,the issue with that is you won’t get touches,they will jack dumb shots and unless the coach pulls them in it will always be like that. The few RJ barrett highlights I have seen he seems like a semi low IQ player who doesn’t know when to give the ball up vs take his shot…Personally though the issue with Reddish is this he could be a Paul george type player on the right team or as mentioned a Ben Mclemore/Wesley Johnson type player if he doesn’t figure it out quickly…

He has two options: Come out in this draft and bare minimum he is a top 14 pick vs he comes out next season and his draft stock is even lower…

If he comes out now he could fall but he may out perform Zion and R.J in the NBA as his game will translate better at that level… Meaning he will have a longer NBA career of the 3..

or

He could stay and hope like hell his position isn’t filled at Duke then somehow or way go higher if he has a great showing at Duke..

 It is Really difficult to tell which NCAA American College player’s Skill Sets & Mind Sets will translate into NBA stardom even under the Best of circumstances but on College "Super Teams" it is Especially difficult 

I remember the 2015 University of Kentucky Super team that was Undefeated going into the Final Four where they were Upset by a Really good Wisconsin featuring Frank "The Tank" Kaminsky & Sam Dekker denying the public of a potential Duke vs Kentucky Final which would have been Massive 

But anyway, I’m getting off track. In that Tournament Karl Anthony Towns emerged as the Clear #1 pick over Jahlil Okafor who (it’s hard to believe now) was considered an Elite future NBA Star & was neck & neck w/ Towns according to experts all that season

That Kentucky team was Loaded w/ future NBA players & 6 members of that team were Drafted in the 2015 Draft – 4 in the the 1st round. And of course KAT went #1 & is indeed an NBA Star

But there was a player on that team people liked a lot but No one saw what he’d become b/c he was on the back burner at U of K & of course I’m speaking of Devin Booker – 6’6” shooting guard who was drafted w/ the #13 pick in that 2015 Draft but Univ of Kentucky teammates Trey Lyles & Willie Cauley Stein were Both drafted in the same lottery ahead of Booker b/c Booker just did not get a lot of action at Kentcuky 

And there are other Great examples b/c these top Guys are Still under classmen & many college coaches are nervous about putting too much on their plate – Myles Turner in the same 2015 Draft was another guy like this – there were some Mock Drafts that had Booker as low as in the mid 20’s

Reddish is a player w/ a skill set that Really translates to the NBA game – he’s plays a position that Every team in the NBA is Desperate to get their hands on – a 3 & D Wing. Reddish is 6’7” & long, he’s got a sweet 3pt stroke & he can attack off the dribble – I am Not saying Reddish will be another Booker but the modern NBA game is a place where players w/ Reddish’s skill set can Really excel 

So would I take Reddish in the Top 5? It depends on a team’s needs but I would say yes absolutely!

I have to confess that some teams will have hard choices to make. If you’re Chicago or Atlanta, do you try to play Zion at the three or take a pure SF like Barrett or Reddish. The obvious answer seems to be Zion but how efficient will he be at the three. 

If Phoenix obtains the first pick they will pick Zion for sure because they need a four but Reddish could benefit from the fact that Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland or Brooklyn need a three. The next draft will be about strategy and gambling…

That’s funny.  I’m a Bulls fan that is secretly hoping they get the #2 pick and just take RJ Barrett because I keep having Marcus Fizer flashbacks or him playing the 3 and just never working out.  To the Bulls credit, that Fizer draft was the worst of my lifetime and they ended up with the best player in it (and still contributing today) with Jamal Crawford (him or 2nd round pick Michael Redd).  But with the #2 pick this year, the Bulls don’t have a chance to mess it up. 

If Chicago ends up with the #1 pick, don’t they have to take Zion?  Basically, anyone with the #1, don’t they have to take Zion?  He has a chance to be a superstar.  I think the rest of the Top 10 has a chance to be VERY good All-Star caliberm but not quite "Superstar" level, talents.  Christ, he’d be the 2nd heaviest NBA player in the league today if he entered the league and his athleticism is insane levels of magnitude higher than the rest of his draft class.

 

But looking at the roster Chicago is constructing, they clearly are "ALL-IN" on Dunn & Lavine at the guard spots and Markennen & Carter, Jr. at the 4-5 spots.  They are missing a wing.  Cam, Rui, RJ, Nasir, Romeo, etc. all fit that mold pretty well.  You get a Top 5 wing and move forward hoping a couple years of development gets the Bulls into the top 1/2 of the East.  The way Lauri is playing this season, seemingly without the "star" attitude (dude gets only 6 shot attempts in the second half in a game they get destroyed in consistently), makes that plan scary.  But it’s easy to follow that blueprint.

 As a Bulls fan I remember those awkward Fizer/Brand frontcourts, but the difference is MASSIVE between Zion and Fizer. Zion is a slasher with a promisinig jumper, Fizer was more of a post up power player. I’m actually hoping my Bulls get the first pick to take him, IMO he’d be a perfect fit with Lauri and WCJ. Lauri spends most of his time on the perimeter, and WCJ is also more of a high post operator at the moment, so Zion would have space to get to the basket or kick out to Lauri/Lavine and even WCJ

But If we get any pick after 5 I’d want Nas Little

 Reddish might not be a star player on a team but he could be an ideal top running mate or even 3rd fiddle on a team in rebuild. He’ll be in the same draft range as Hachimura and Little probably so a lot will depend on how well the guys work out or if a team go for upside or NBA readiness.
