ropeParticipantThis isn’t a hypothetical for Pistons fans. Who would you rather have on your team – Knight or Jennings. I’d go with Knight by quite a margin. The Pistons would be better off right now if they still had him,.
What is your take on take on these two?

JoeWolf1I’ve never like Jennings as a point guard, and I made a similar post last season. Through Jennings’ first 5 seasons he’s only shot over 40% on a season, once. He’s more of a point guard than Knight, but I think Knight is the more talented player, especially defensively, and the one who will be better long term.
Jennings kind of burst on to the scene, but hasn’t sustained much to be excited about as as he’s now in his 6th season. Maybe SVG can help him develop, but I think although Knight is a combo, he’s the better player.

tuck243ParticipantBut I do have to ask, why will you take Brandon Knight by a wide margin? And why do you believe the Pistons will be better off with Knight than Jennings?
You are aware that Brandon Jennings is actually having a better year than Knight this year? That Brandon Jennings actually WIN games as compared to Knight who just get stats? You can look at the advance stats, Win shares and PER… Or you can look directly at the games this year… I’ve been hard on Knight this year, so when my buddy saw that he had 24 points and 6 boards w/ 5 assists he immediately text me.. "You see Brandon Knight killing?" Which forced me to watch the game and there he was – NOT WINNING THE GAME… He doesn’t make anyone around him better and should be the sixth man…
Also, JoeWolf1, you said Knight is a more talented player defensively? I’m not sure I would label any of these guys with defense… Both are horrid on that end, it’s more like taking the lesser of 2 evils… I would say though, Knight will give more effort defensively than Jennings… That’s about it…
Honestly, Brandon Knight isn’t a starting PG on a winning team… The Pistons will be in the same position they’re in right now with Knight or worse… I think the Bucks would be better off with Jennings at the moment than Knight… Bucks main issue is Knight… They play better as a team when he’s not on the court (and the stats prove this)… The Pistons issue is starting Josh Smith at 3…
Give me Jennings and yall can have Knight…

GBeeParticipantis neither an option? if you’re a playoff team, or hope to be one, you don’t want either of these guys running your offense.

Mad MaxParticipantMario Chalmers was a starter on title team, granted he didn’t really run the team, but both Brandons are better.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantAnd to back your statement up, Brandon Jennings also actually led a team to the playoffs as one of their top 2 players. Twice if i’m not mistaken.

mookieParticipantBeing a Detroit fan my friend and I were just having this exact same discussion. Joe and Tuck both brought in great points. Jennings is more of a "true" pg while Knight is more of combo. I see Knight’s career turning into a Jason Terry type…maybe coming off the bench on a winning team would be more suited for him..he wouldnt’ just generate stats. Neither one is a lock down defender so maybe that facet of their games so they are probably equal in that sense. Jennings could do wonders for his game if he was more of a facilitator…he could be a better version of Jameer Nelson, who in his prime was decent. Like not turn the ball over, not force shots and set up his teammates while taking what’s left…nothing forced.
Just as a side note to the pistons…Drummond doesn’t look like he’s taking that next step to greatness. With the Pistons having Monroe and Smith, what do you guys think about this trade…Drummond and Jennings for Jeff Green and Rondo?

ropeParticipantWhile I don’t really like the trade idea, I would agree that Drummond seems to have leveled off. I really thought natural progression, Van Gundy and the US experience would would all be positive factors for him.

Malik-UniversalParticipantandre drummond is untouchable… no way hes getting traded anytime soon
hes really struggling offensively but hes only 21.. no point in giving up on him..
and to anwser the question between knight and jennings.. jennings is more explosive as a scorer when he gets it going.. while his shot selcection still isnt that great.. its become better.. he gets others involved to.. hes not as selfish as we claim him to be.. brandon knight on the other hand is bigger.. just as streaky and a better defender but not the playermaker for others like jennings is.. knight is a combo while jennings is a PG.. and jennings assist to turnover ratio is way better than knights
i would have to give the slight edge to knight as the better player but its a matter of taste.. jennings fits more of a traditional PG as knight is a combo.. but i will say when jennings gets it cooking from the field its hard to say that knight is better.. problem is that jennings normally doesnt shoot a good %.. i just think the pistons gave up knight wayyyy to early

TRC1991ParticipantBrandon Jennings is a very talented basketball player, my friend Reggie Moore (played at WSU) said that Jennings is the best player he has ever played against (and he’s played against isiah thomas, nate robinson, aaron gordon, blake griffin, etc.)
He said he’s amazing if you just give him the ball and let him play freely. The strict offenses have hindered him.
He would do amazing if he played for a Mike D’Antoni/Brian Shaw type offense

Meditated StatesParticipantIf coached right. I think he is a good PG if he thinksnpass more than score. Inonly like when Jennings isnon fire then shoot away, but he has good passing skills. He also is a clutch player. Jennings is the guy who can take you to the playoffs if he figures out a medium between scoring and passing. He must think pass 1st with his weapons. Drummond should play with Rondo and show the world what he really can do. Wishful thinking.
