Game I watched: Mississippi St 58 vs Akron 68

Not a huge surprise here. Akron is a solid team who played Notre Dame tough in last year’s tourney. Zeke Marshall had a nice game, he is a long 7 footer who is a great defensive player and has an emerging offensive game. Their point guard, Alex Abreu is a nice player and is a name to file away for a year or two. Mississippi St’s offense revolves around Dee Bost who is a solid PG. When he is out the Bulldog’s offense is flat and stagnant, but when he is in they perform much better. He did not shoot the ball well tonight but did create shots for his teammates. Renardo Sidney had a solid game. He missed a wide open dunk but had some nice post moves and made some great passes from the post to set up teammates. Their other hyped big, Arnett Moultrie, had problems finishing, but he was an absolute monster on the boards. Again the outcome was not a huge surprise.

    Zeke Marshall C- 10pts, 6reb, 5blk, 5fouls

    Alex Abreu PG- 8pts, 5reb, 3assists, 6stls

    Moe Harkless PF- 15pts, 6reb, 6/12fg

    Nurideen Lindsey SG- 15pts, 3stls, 5/9fg, 5/9ft

    Arizona 67 vs Duquesne 59

I caught about half of this game. Josiah Turner was benched because he was late to shoot around so Jordin Mayes got the start at PG instead and made the most of it. He led Arizona to victory by hitting a few clutch threes and free throws that helped separate the teams. Jesse Perry played well again, stabilizing the glass and scoring another double- double. Angelo Chol had another solid game at the 5 spot but other frosh, Turner and Johnson struggled. Kyle Fogg also struggled to score after having a great game on Monday. Bottom Line: TOO MANY TURNOVERS. Zona had 21 of them including a few at the very end of the game.

    Jesse Perry PF- 11pts, 11reb, 2blk, 3/5fg, 5/6ft

    Solomon Hill F- 7pts, 9reb, 4assists, 2stls

    Jordin Mayes G- 19pts, 4 3pters, 6/10fg

    Kyle Fogg SG- 7pts, 4reb, 6to’s, 2/9fg

    Josiah Turner PG- 0pts, 3assists, 0/1fg

    Nick Johnson SG- 8pts, 1/5fg, 6/10ft

    Angelo Chol C- 6pts, 7reb, 3/5fg
