omphalosParticipantAnybody watching this? Surprised not to see a game thread for it. Portland just took the lead in the 4th, they are capitalising on Dallas’ weakness. I started watching in the third and I’ve already seen about three successful alley oops by Portland; looks like the same old Dallas to me.

Wavy BagelsParticipantYea Batum is really giving it to them, plus he’s guarding Dirk and the team as a whole is giving him problems. I can already tell this is going to be a great series.

omphalosParticipantPortland over the limit, this just got interesting.

Wavy BagelsParticipantKidd’s three sealed it.

omphalosParticipantOffensive rebound by Chandler was huge. I still think Blazers win the series though.

omphalosParticipantDamn, nice 3 there by Batum.

speedevilhis career is over. Portland can’t rely on Roy to take over in the 4th quarter and win games for them anymore. At best Roy is a 15 min back up. Roy is slower than Jason Kidd.

NYK2010ParticipantGood 4th qtr, Dirk carrying the Mavs. Portland outside of Aldridge not scoring enough they really miss Roy being healthy.
BTW Did Rick Carlisle say Dirk is top 10-15 all-time.
Is he serious I mean yeah he’s clutch but top 10-15 all-time.
I could name 10 guys better than him that played from the 80’s or 90’s not even going back to the old days of the league.
So many guys today mentioned in the top 10-15 all time, some guys belong in that conversation obviously in Shaq, Kobe, KG, Duncan.
Other like Dirk, Kidd, Nash, Pierce, Ray Allen I don’t think are top 15 all-time greats.

ilike.panochasParticipantEven tho the Mavs won game 1, Portland controlled the tempo of the entire game which made it a low scoring game. If they keep playing the same pace, it definetly favors Portland as the series moves along.

kaceyParticipantDisagree @mess.eee
Blazers controlled the tempo the entire game? Did you watch the game, Mavs were up by 6-10 points for most of the game. Mavs can play at a slower pace as well. They have enough solid defenders to hold the Blazers’ offense in check. Sure, Aldridge went off in the first half on Dirk, but when Chandler switched over, he wasn’t near as effective.
I think with an old team like the Mavs, you would want to run them out of the gym, not play at a slow pace.
Should still be a fun series to watch. I doubt Kidd shoots lights out like he did tonight and I doubt Dirk misses 13 shots like he did tonight. Meanwhile, the Blazers need to someone else to step up and do some attacking. I would say that guy will be Wes Matthews, unfortunately he picked up two quick fouls and wasn’t heard from the rest of the game.

the I in winParticipantWinning doesn’t mean you controlled the tempo.

kaceyParticipantTrue, but for the most part the Mavs imposed their will. Just because the score was in the mid 80’s doesn’t mean the Blazers controlled the tempo. Like I said the Mavs can play at a slower pace as well.

kaceyParticipantJason Kidd taking over. Has scored the first nine points for the Mavs to start the second half.
I hope this storm doesn’t knock out my power. I will be pissed.

SteroidParticipantRoy looks soooo awkward. It makes my knees hurt just to watch him play (>_<)

IndianaBasketballParticipantRoy was never that fast, quick or explosive to begin with. A lot of his game is built on change of pace, etc.
He’s lost a step or two, but mentally is where he’s hurting the most. His knees actually look decent to me. He’s playing like someone who doesn’t know their role and has lost confidence, which is affecting his aggressiveness. The skill that he possesses hasn’t just disappeared… He can still pass. He can still post up. He can still shoot. He can still make plays. He can still be a solid pick and roll player.
McMillian is making a mistake not playing him because he could have an impact in this series. He should be playing over Rudy Fernandez, who just isn’t that good. Roy is capable of 20-30 minutes.

kaceyParticipantAs a Mavs’ fan I don’t want to see Roy getting more minutes.
But you are correct. Roy should be getting more run over Rudy. Rudy has been ineffective so far and can’t even check Barea.
