Couldnt make it this year because of work but still gonna enjoy watching the Canadian talent. Ignas Brazdeskies  Howard Washington, Simi Shittu, Nickiel Alexander-Walker, Matur Maker and Oshea Brissett are all bigtime prospects showing out. Really excited to see how Simi Shittu has developed his game. Feels like just last year he was a solid 6’7 and now Im pretty sure he recently measured at aroumd 6’11 in shoes.

For those who live in Ontario I defenitely suggest supporting this game and showing up. Tickets are dirt cheap, its a great enviroment with all the Canada basketball familiar faces and a very competitive game.

Abu Kigab and Marcus Carr are also legitimate NBA prospects.

Demar Derozan showed up 2nd year in a row. Spoke to the kids in the lockeroom and gave them all a pair of his new shoes. True Canadian ambassador literally the 2017 Vince Carter. Vince did alot of work in the community to promote basketball in Canada not just highlight dunks.

Wayne Emery, Marcus Stroman sightings. Where you at Drake?

Standout prospect so far is Lugentz Dort who didnt get any PT at the Nike Hoop Summit as a last minute replacement but has been dominant so far. Many explosive above the rim finishes and also hit an open three. Like a less bulky more agile Rawle Alkins.

Jalen Poyser of UNLV officially announced he is transferring. Said he is looking for a school that likes to run and is committed to developing him.

    Makur Maker
Not a popular opinion but he could end up just as good as his brother and may even be more unique. Doesn’t have Thons height but has all kinds if length and his body is more proportionate. Seems like he will fill out well. Definitely shows high end potential as a combo forward. Such an active player like his brother continues to get better has improvable weaknesses. Hard to explain how well he runs the floor. Had one play where he caught the ball from 30 feet full sprint on a fastbreak took two steps and finished with a two hand dunk (really two steps and a gather/shouldve been a travel). Finishes at the rim, from the perimeter, seems a lot stronger than his peers and is such an annoying defensive presence. Offensive game is starting to blossom as well. Needs to learn to play with pace he is very awkward as well and kind of hunches his back while he runs but this can also surprise opponents as he can easily extend quickly and get his hands in passing lanes and on shot attempts. Dribbles high and once again seems awkward with the ball in his hand but is effective nonetheless.

    Oshae Brissett-Trey Lyles-Syracuse-6’9 210
Has really done a lot to improve his game. Reminds me of Trey Lyles. Has the skills of a wing but doesn’t quite have the stance or posture associated with wings.

    Nickiel Alexander Walker-6-5 195-Virginia Tech
Very underrated player be national recruiting standards. Going to play for Buzz Williams the coach responsible for developing Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder and Wesley Matthews. Alexander-Walkers one of the only players where watching his mixtape actually makes him seem worse than he is. You would think he is primarily a shooter but he is actually an above average athlete with very good court vision and ball handling. Such a silky smooth scorer. If you remember how Monta Ellis played under Rick Carlisle with the Mavs that’s what his game reminds me of but taller. Tonight he was forcing the issue a bit and didn’t have his best showing.

    Luguentz Dort-Rawle Alkins-6’4 195
    Oregon, Louisville, Florida, Baylor

Loved watching him attack the rim. Very shifty slasher with good handles. Didn’t see much of a midrange game today but he has shown it in the past. Two long range three point shots but isnt known as a shooter. Had about 5 dunks/finishes at the rim in this game and most of them developed in half court sets where he beat his man and the help defence. One of the best uncommitted recruits.

    Simi Shittu-Poythress-6’9 200

The things he does well he does very well but also has some very bad traits. He is very active energetic player and a great athlete. Big time disruptor defensively. Finishes lots of unorthodox layups and can play above the rim. Kind of has a sleek and agile build like Thaddeus Young and similar touch/soft hands. Great handle for his height. Also a very good passer. Shot is broken. Maybe best suited turning his role into more of a Center as his shot hasn’t gotten better. He had some line drive free throws. He better choose what school he goes to wisely as he is very raw but is getting tons of offers.

    Marcus Carr-Tony Rozier-Pittsburgh
Athletic and explosive yet composed PG. Was playing at Montverde and was recruited by a deep list of top tier schools before an ACL injury slowed him down. Should get minutes right away at Pittsburgh and looks like he had a successful recovery.

    Iggy Brazdeikis-Markieff Morris/TJ Leaf
Not a big secret anymore. Had a good showing in last years competition as well. Very skilled for his size and deceptively athletic. Had a play where he caught the ball just inside the free throw line and blew by his defender for a left handed layup off glass. Gets very low on his dribble drives which is rare for players his size. Do it all PF with a great feel for the game. Personally reminds me of Markieff Morris and cant help but give him a TJ Leaf Comparison.

How did Brissett and Howard Washington look in the game?  From the videos I have seen on Brissett (although they are highlight tapes) I think he can be really good for the Cuse.  As a cuse fan I really hope he can step in and contribute immediately….especially because they need all they help they can get next year.
