Is anybody pissed that belmont possibly got the worst draw for their first round match.. wisconsin.

Belmont: loves to run, grab offensive rebounds, create turnovers, have a ton of junior/senior players (loads of experience)

    Versus

Wisconsin: loves to stroll up the court, excellent defensive rebounding, basically never turns the ball over, also a very junior/senior laden team, one of the top efficient offence in whole of college ball.

Polar opposite teams => but wisconsin always win the battle of wills, they’ll drag this game into a snail pace and I think Belmont wont be able to cope (they get a lot of their offence off turnovers/offensive rebounds) in scoring in a half-court setting. I mean have you ever seen teams enforce their pace of the game upon wisconsin? Rarely.

Against most other teams, I would have probably picked them for the upset but I seriously dont think they can do it >:

Wisconsin is the best free-throw shooting team in the country. Hitting your free throws down the stretch is crucial for the NCAA tourney, and if I remembered correctly, I heard that WI may have set the D-I records for highest team free throw percentage, and Jordan Taylor may have set the record for highest Ast/TO ratio for a starting PG. If not, then they were second. Either way, they take very good care of the ball, and they hit their free throws. I’m pretty confident they’ll demolish Belmont. Kansas State, if they get through, I think can beat them though. K-St. is one team I wouldn’t want to be playing right now, as they went on a tear to end the season (Big 12 tourney excluded).

Then again, I’m a student at UW…so I may be kind of biased, hahaha

I think kansas state will get taken out by utah state team that was really underseeded.

Yup and this year;s wisconsin could possibly catch up to the… i think its the 1984 harvard team that had 82.2% as an all time record, I think theyre around 80% now. Oh and i remembered that belmont aggressive fullcourt press defence fouls quite a lot.

I really thought belmont had the opportunity to reach the sweet 16/elite 8 if they had favourable matchups. Quite certain they are like the best atlantic sun team ever and the highest rated 13 seed in terms of sagarin/pomeroy ratings. (I think their pomeroy rating is higher than florida’s … lol)

Yeah, all the talk of Belmont being an upset special kind of gets thrown out the window with this matchup. They have a decent chance of winning, but I think Belmont would be the favorite against every 5 seed and up. Instead they have to play a 4 seed which can match up with them. They just got shafted with a 13 seed.

Belmont is a 13 seed…i dont think the tourney committee is catering to thme geting a favorable first round game. They can, and i think they will beat Wisconsin.

Its all about setting the pace of the game. And wisconsin always forces their snail pace on the game. And are u really gonna bet on a belmont team that gets most of its points from turnovers/offensive rebounds to actually outscore wisconsin in a half-court setting? its definitely possible the game will be sped up a bit and that belmont can get hot behind the arc but I really dont see it happening.
