Coming into the league from the 99′ draft class between the 2 who would you rather have & why? Did you honestly think that either player careers would end up like it is now, on the note to where they would be on numerous teams or not in the league anymore? When I first since them play college ball, I thought they would be the top 2 PG’s in the league by far, especially with the combination of size, speed, & athleticism both brought to the game from the PG position.

With my selection if I had the top pick & had to take a PG, I would not hesitate in picking Stevie Franchi$e. I have seen film on him while he was in HS,JUCO,& Maryland and was he special. There will never be another Franchi$e ever IMO!!!!! He could flat out play, & do it all from handling the ball, dishing, attacking the rim @ will, & D up. Just to mention he was also an outstanding leaper with a 45inch vert if I can recall right. It’s just too bad his career was short ended, because I feel as though he could be a key asset to a contender team & give up valuable minutes.

    Steve Francis

I have to go with steve francis. he has more control on his game and has one of the sickest crossovers.

I never said Stevie was a top 5 guard. “I thought they would be the top 2 PG’s in the league by far”

The question being asked is who would you take coming out not who would you take if you knew how their careers would pan out. No question you’d take Francis. Davis was a solid prospect but nothing special, not to mention he tore his acl just a year prior to the draft. Francis was a can’t miss prospect. A unique hybrid blend of size, athleticism, and scoring punch for a potential PG. His PG skills in college were good enough to complement everything else in his game which was spectacular on the pro level.

If this is only based on their college careers, then without a question I would select Steve Francis over Baron Davis. The fact that Baron had a major knee surgery in college is already enough “red flag” for me to pass up on him and go with Francis.
