jaysmith1987ParticipantI think Austin Rivers has a freshman season much like Harrison barnes. I think the system at duke will change next year to better benefit the plummees and I also think quin cook is better than advertised. I’m predicting a good season for Austin just not the all American season we have come to expect from number one overall player.

ChrispyParticipantCoach K’s system has even made Wojo and Will Avery look awesome, so I expect Rivers to have a sensational first year. The biggest complaints I have seen about him have been shot selection and body language- 2 things Coach K (love him or hate him) will straighten out right quick!

Duke loses in Elite 8
Enters draft
David Stern fixes draft to send him to Chicago who get a lottery teams pick(Charlotte).
Rose and Rivers take the league by storm

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipanti can see austin rivers taking over at duke! coach k will have him play more structured ball than usual and this will help rivers game alot.

jaysmith1987ParticipantI just don’t think hes as good as touted I believe he isn’t the clear number one player I think brad beal is better player at this point and I think Austin looked alot better because the lack of talent on his high school team he didn’t stand out in mcds game or carry his team to wins over national powers like other number ones did in high school

ChrispyParticipantYeah, because the McD’s game is the best place to watch structured, play oriented basketball. And what if he HAD played great? What then? Lets ask our good friend Jonathan Bender…

franfranParticipantwithout Singler, without Nolan, without Irving … Rivers have to average 28 points, 4.5 reb, 4.5 ast, 1.5 spg, 0.4 blk

nhlkdog411ParticipantHe’s almost surely going to be running the point..you really think his passing is that bad?

ghettosermonParticipant^^ Austin Rivers likely won’t be point. He’ll be SG playing the same role as Seth Curry and Andre Dawkins. Quinn Copok and Thornton will run point. Rivers will run point at times but he won’t be carrying the team with the ball.

The lake show2You never judge a player by how they played in that open gym All American game where its a free for all.
Is Quinn cook better than advertised because of what he did in the All star game now?

WizardofOzParticipantAustin Rivers is NOT a PG. I’ve seen him play plenty of times, and he almost never looks to create for others. Either Cook or Thornton will start at PG.

ghettosermonParticipant^^ No but Quinn Cook is a natural PG, Rivers is a scoring dynamo. I was responding to the person who said Rivers will average 4.5 apg, Kyrie didn’t even average that, even Nolan only averaged 5 apg. I highly doubt Rivers averages more than 3 apg when he won’t even be the point.

The lake show2It’s possible Austin gets that many assist(i doubt it) but not because he’s such a great assist man but because he is a pretty good passer and players who can score alot tend to draw defenses to them which leaves others wide open( Dawkins or Seth when they are in the Game with Austin)

IknoBall12Participantima huge duke fan but sum of what im hearing jus baffles me. 28 points a game? seriously? hes a talented freshman but jesus be real. Itll be tough for him to average that much when he has quinn cook, seth curry, andre dawkins, michael gbinjie, and the plumlees. i think more like 17 to 18 ppg.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/03/2011 - 6:04pm #517558
PaulsJayhawksParticipantSeriously the kid is not going to average that. Cook all be it a PG likes to score and they have 2 solid guards in Curry and Dawkins who both improved tis year. Duke is loaded at the guard spot so he will get great minutes he’s not getting kemba/jimmer minutes. Also 28ppg would have put him 3rd in the nation this year. Not gonna happen.

rileymcshea3Participantok Quin is a good passing point guard …………Rivers is a great scorer and "could" average a little over 20 …..lets be real Plumlees are good but there not players who can just creat there own shot like Amare or Sullinger there offense is more like Tyson Chandler who does the pick and rolls and who can finish around the rim but cant throw it down like Tyson Chandler does …….. Duke wins championship with ease ……………….Rivers goes either number 1,2,or,3 in draft

IknoBall12Participantabout duke winning the championship with ease. especially when harrison is comin gback to UNC. those guys just turned into the preseason #1 team in the nation. duke is strong but carolina will be a little stronger. Dukes weakness will be at the small forward position thi syear seeing as i don tthink any of the guys on their roster next year can guard harrison barnes.
