Not sure, just think he’s oddman out. If they had started winning sooner, I think he’d have made it, but at this point I think he’s at best a reserve. I honestly think Monta deserves to be an All-Star more than anyone, just couldn’t find room. Not over L.O. who I think the coaches vote it, Aldridge has been a beast, and Dirk isDirk. Good thing for Blake, Dirk could very well be injureds which would almost guarantee Blake, unless ref’s went with respect and voted in Tim one last time like they did with MJ.

What made you decide to include Griffin on your list? I thought you had him as the odd man out before.

Didn’t the All-Star teams have 13 guys on each team last year?

My argument for Griffin not being on the team is more a function of his conference than his season. The West is stacked in terms of individual performances but you’ve got to give Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge their due.

Bargnani has quietly stepped into the spotlight. Sure, it’s on a bad team, but he’s looking like a borderline franchise player.

@indiana, its super close for a number of guys. Griffin has been really impressing me recently. But im watching love drop 30+ tonight and it might come down to the final days.

@76erballer, all-star teams only have 12 players. Its always been that way.

I guess it comes down to the question of "what qualifies one as an All-Star?"

I know they don’t score alot of points but it’s hard to leave off Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and Al Horford who are all so valuable to their teams. Especially for guys like Bargs and Love who are awful defensively and play on terrible squads.

The more I think about it. I think Love deserves the nod more than Blake. Putting up historical games, and is the first dude since Rodman to make rebounding cool. He’s the great white hope. Superstar. Horford I bet ends up making it just because someone from the hawks has to represent, and they unfortunately paid Joe Johnson superstar money to have a sub all-star year.

    ——————————————————————————————————————-

Johnson had been battling an elbow problem at the beginning of the year. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right (shooting) elbow in December. Since recovering over the past couple weeks he’s been back to his beast ways; Averaging 27.2 ppg on 52% shooting over the past 5 games with at least 24 points in each game. If he continues this kind of play heading towards the All-star break he’ll deserve a spot on the Eastern conference team.

Is he overpaid? Probably. But there’s still only 5 other shooting guards in the league I would take over him right now (Kobe, Wade, Ginobli, Ellis, Gordan with maybe a case being made for Ray Allen).

Definitely a possibility that Duncan makes it.
