BasterdInABasketParticipantLooking at the numbers and their games, its amazing how similar these two guys in these years are.. Hakeem was most likely the most skilled big man in the history of the game while Dirk is the best shooting big man in history and might be the best shooter period in the game now.
Championship teams in the past 30 years have ALWAYS been dominated by 2 or 3 Superstars or Allstars, all the way through the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons and Spurs titles. The only year that stands out is Houston in 1994, led by one stud and a bunch of role players. We could be seeing again and for maybe the last times in a while with all the super teams being formed. Obviously its a different era and Ewing-Starks-Oakley is solid but its no James-Wade-Bosh…so lets say Dirk wins who had the better supporting cast and better playoff performance between the two?
2011 – Dirk — 19 G 28 ppg 8 rpg 2.5 apg .496 fg .937 ft .7 bpg
PPG- Terry 17, Marion 12, Kidd 9, Barea 8, Chandler 8, Peja 7, Stevenson 4, Haywood 3
1994 – Dream-23 G 29 ppg 11 rpg 4.5 apg .519 fg .795 ft 4 bpg
PPG- Maxwell 14, Horry 12, Thorpe 11, K Smith 11, Cassell 9. M Elie 6

BasterdInABasketParticipant4 Blocks a game in the playoffs is very monstrous

Scottoant93ParticipantDream would have better stats double double plus 4 blks thats a great all around performance, I hope the mavs win cause dirk and kidd deserve a title, and Dirks stats are impressive, but the dream is the better performance.

trueone313detroitParticipantI like the Dreams team… Depending on the rules that would factor into the outcome of 6 or 7 games series. When Dream Played there was no str8 up zones allowed. Dallas lives but playing mini zones. Dallas has better individual supporting cast member stat wise. But as a union no where effiecent as houstons team… Plus they were deeper in roster..

rileymcshea3ParticipantDream better stats but Dirk is more clutch

MuggsyParticipantBoth great players for different reasons/styles, but far too different to compare them.

paradigmnParticipantI love DIRK….great player…HOF…obviously…but what the DREAM was able to do throught his career is actually borderline phenomal.
STATISTICS:
blocks: 1st all time…3830
steals: 8th all time…2162
points: 9th all time…26,946
rebounds: 11th all time…13,748
basically top 10 in four major statistical categories ….all I can say is SICK!!!!

TallmanNYCParticipantYeah, when you compare a guy like Dream, who doesn’t crack anyone’s Top 5 of all time, and see how much better he was than Dirk, it kind of makes those statements about Dirk be one of the Top 5 seem rediculous.
But if the Mavs win against the combined "talents" of Miami, that will really be impressive and it will be more impressive that the Dream’s final victories, even if Dream did more statistically. Because the Mavs are old and kind of banged up and the Heat are loaded.

r377ParticipantHakeem dominated both ends of the floor – dirk can only do that on the offensive end.
i would have the dream in my top 10 all-time (just)

billykParticipantThe Rockets won back to back championships against two BEASTLY teams (Patrick Ewings Knicks and SHAQS Magics)…. I cant see how people can think Dirk is more clutch than The Dream… I goes beyond stats Hakeem was absolutely dominate on both ends of the court, a good question would how the Rockets would have fared against the Bulls..
