Philadelphia goes into next year with some pieces changing. Guys who are currently set to come back are:

    PG’s – Jrue Holiday
    SG’s – Evan Turner
    SF’s – Andre Igoudala / Thaddeus young (3/4 man–mostly plays 4 off the bench)
    PF’s – Elton Brand / Thaddeus Young
    C – Nik Vucevic

Im fairly certain those are the only guarantees to be back (unless traded of course)

The team may or may not lose Lou Williams (opted out), Spencer Hawes (FA), Jodie Meeks (RFA), Lavoy Allen (RFA), Tony Battie (FA), Xavier Silas (RFA), Sam Young (RFA), Craig Brackins (released)

Out of this group I feel Lavoy Allen is a definite to come back to the team. He had an excellent post season for a rookie, and was a great late 2nd rd pick. Brackins (obviously gone), meeks, sam young, X Silas I do not expect to be back.. Lou / Hawes just depends on how much money they will command. ( I also expect Battie back as a veteran presense in the locker room)

Obviously this team will need some pieces. In my opinion with whats left over I feel if it was not before now is the time to move Iggy. I personally feel more comfortable with Allen starting over Vucevic, but lets see how Vucevic does with a training camp under his belt. We definitely need a Big and a shooter + some fillers.

In possession of the 15th, 45th, and 54th… What would you do if you were the Sixers? Ive heard many rumors. Do you amnesty Brand? Or let him fall off the books next yr, and save the amnesty clause. Yea hes not the same player he was, and he never will be, but he plays D, is a pro, works hard, and were not deep at all down low.

Do you move iggy to GS (for the 6th pick) (Toronto 8th pick + some), assuming there is still interest)… Or do you for go that route and trade for an established player already. I feel Iggys stock isnt getting any higher than it is now, and other than defensive presence this is already Jrue’s team IMO…

I am just looking for some different perspective of how you would allow this young Sixers team to grow without taking a step backwards..

IM hearing a lot of talk in the 1st rd of us taking either terrence jones, moultrie, or Terrence Ross if there.. Also some rumors of trading up for Drummond.. 2nd rd rumors are all over the place. With Tons of speculation about the tm, and with the young guys seeming to finally come to the forefront of control of the team, is the time now to part ways with igoudala, etc?

Golden State has the 7th pick not the 6th but if Drummond would be there I would trade Iggy in a heartbeat to get him. We know how this team is going to play with Iggy as the featured player. As long as he is there Jrue and Turner are still going to look to him to lead. I think we need to shoot for being a legit contender in 2 or 3 years. I hope they can resign Lou but he will command a decent dollar since he is once of the best scorers available as an unrestricted FA. If they don’t have Lou next year they are pretty much screwed anyway because he was the majority of their half court offense. If they could get Drummond and he reaches his potential they would be the best young team in the East down the road. If the Sixers somehow trade Igoudala for the 7th pick and take Drummond and then could have PJ3 slip to them at 15th to replace him I would be the happiest person alive on draft night.

I think that rumored trade with Toronto seemed fair. I think it went Toronto would send #8, Ed Davis and Jose Calderon and philly sends Iggy. I don’t think that Drummond will be available at 7 and if that’s what Toronto offers that will be hard to pass up. Philly can still draft Meyers Leonard at 8 if the choose not to bring back Spencer Hawes. I’m hoping that’s what happens because that’s what I have predicted in my mock.

I doubt they would go with a center outside of Drummond. They are high on Vucevic and for good reason, he has a nice touch and some good range. If they do move up to the 8th Spot and trade iggy then they would have to get a wing player to replace him(most likely a 2 because Lou could be gone and Turner can play 3). Waiters, Lamb, Ross and Rivers could all be available at that spot so If Drummond is gone I would look for one of those guys to be the pick.

You don’t think Meyers Leonard would mesh nicely with Vucevic. They seem to have pretty complimentary skill sets and one of those swing guys will probably be available at 15.

Trade Iggy to draft Austin Rivers.  This would allow us to let Lou move on and then play Turner at the 3 or get a 3 somewhere else and have Turner start at the 2 and bring Rivers off the Bench ala Lou.  Every mock I have seen has us taking Moultrie at 15.  I’m fine with that but PJ3 has more upside.  I would keep Brand unless amnistying would bring us a stud. My 2013 sixers wish list: PG Jrue SG Rivers/Meeks SF Turner/Thad PF Brand/Moultrie                C Allen/Vuk..  If Lou goes we will need another back court or swing.  I like Plumblee as a althletic Def big in the 2nd.

They would compliment each other but I am not sure that one of the top wing guys will be there at 15. I don’t think Leonard is worth risking it and missing on Ross,Rivers,Waiters or Lamb. Drummond I think could be worth the risk of missing on the SGs. I wouldn’t mind seeing Leonard in a Sixers uniform but I don’t think they should trade up to get him.

I think they keep Brand to see what happens as the summer moves evolve, he has a nice expiring deal which some team may well look to take especially as deadline day approaches and thus Philly might get some nice pieces back. I’d save the amnesty as Brand could easily have a negioated buy out as the season progresses if he other players came into rotation and we know a contender would soon snap him up for vet’s minimum.

I think that Hawes, Allen and Williams need to be resigned what happens with the draft could well revolve around Iggy and we have discussed all trade ideas about him over the years. If Philly draft at 15 then Henson or Moultrie would be my choices.

At this point It doesn’t seem like Philadelphia will deal Iguodala unless it’s for something they believe is a sure thing. It’s hard who they’d be willing to trade Iguodala for either.

I live near Philly so I pay attention to the Sixers, at this point I’m not too worried about them trading Iguodala…I’m more concerned with the development of Holiday, Turner, Vucevic, Allen, and whoever they pick. I don’t think Iggy could be traded for anyone who is going to make a huge difference for them at this point so why not just keep him. Hoping they draft a big guy (by big guy I mean someone who plays in the post and is at least 6’10") and use him.

On another hope I hope the Sixers don’t amnesty brand because I doubt they are going to persuade a top notch free agent to come this year so why bother dumping Brand who is a leader on the team. If anything he could be a valuable chip near the trade deadline for a team looking to start over and would love his expiring contract.

To get Batum and 11 from Portland?  Is Iggy enough?  I don’t think so.  I like Batum.  Young developing player with good OFF den DEF.  Batum and Rivers for Iggy.

they like Vucevic, but Lavoy Allen got the minutes in the playoffs. Vucevic got a lot of bench time. (note – his best regular season games came against the celtics and he could not sniff the court in that series).. That says something to me. Whether you call it rookie wall or not both he and Lavoy played overseas during the lockout. While Nik showed a nice touch around the hoop, and nice Jumper, if hes our 5 of the future he better get more physical in the paint.. otherwise hes not starting material..Lavoy Allen is undersized for the 5, but he showed his grit in the playoffs.. A player I surely want to hang on to. Vucevic might end up being a very good player, but im not sold based on last years performance.

I like Vucevic so this is not meant to knock him, but he needs a better motor as well.. Collins can get the best out of his players.. Playing well every 3rd game wont cut it as a starter.. Consistency is his biggest downfall thus far.. Again he was a rookie so i wont judge him to unfairly, but his sophmore year he better show me more..

Lavoy Allen was more ready to play in the league from the start. He is 2 years older and much stronger. When it comes to potential it is obvious that Vucevic has the edge. A couple years down the road I could see Vucevic being a player that averages 15 and 8. He will never be a great defender but can be solid. He has a lot of room to grow and is clearly a more valuable asset than Lavoy Allen.

i watch every single sixers game.. I never miss one. if im not there ill tape it.. Huge fan. (you might be as well). Assuming so you would know Lavoy Allen only began to see minutes when Vucevic got hurt (in the miami game / in Miami), other than minimal spot minutes, if anything at all..Maybe Allen was more ready to play in your eyes (but Doug Collins, Michael Curry, etc) had Lavoy Allen stuffed on the end of the bench..I hope Vucevic can grow into 15/8 but if hes a starter he still has to be more physical inside, and needs a better motor.. Maybe time will show that he can be all that and more. Right now Allen is light years ahead of him as a defender, and his midrange game isnt to shabby either.

Right now Lavoy is more valuable for the reasons you mentioned. He is much more physical and a better defender and rebounder. Lavoy did surprise me with his midrange game especially in the playoffs…not to mention fade away bank shot 3 pointers. My feeling is that he will struggle to develop a go to post move that would set him apart offensively. He will never be the quickest guy off the bouce so he is pretty much relegated to scoring on mid range jumpers and garbage baskets. Vucevic already showed in his first season that he has a decent post game and a go to move. His jump hook is nice and I love his range out to the 3. This next season will be interesting especially if they don’t bring back Hawes. Either way the Sixers look to have done a much better job than I orginally thought in the draft last year.

I am a huge fan as well but you take the cake because I don’t think I have ever taped a sixers game but I did watch around 50 regular season games last year and obviously all of the playoffs.
