Starting tonight, the Nike Global Challenge will be going on at Whitney Young in Chicago until Saturday (August 13-16). USA Midwest is playing Canada right now, 48-38 at half time. Here is a livestream of that game:

Am leaving for Chicago tomorrow and will give recaps of what I see on Friday and Saturday. Wish I could have gone to every game, just was not in the cards and am happy I get to see any of it. Either way, thinking they are streaming quite a few games on HS Cube if you wanted to follow along. A lot of talent, mostly from the EYBL, though there were some pleasant surprises announced. 4 US Teams as well as Brazil, Canada, China and Pan Africa. Keep in mind, some of the top prospects are over in Dubai for the U17’s, though I am pretty happy with the players they will have during the next few days. Here are the rosters and links to their player profiles and commitments (if applicable):

    USA East

    [Player: Jalen Coleman]

    [Player: Donovan Mitchell] (Louisville commit)

    [Player: Prince Ali]

    [Player: Allonzo Trier] (Arizona commit)

    [Player: Malachi Richardson] (Syracuse commit)

    [Player: Terance Mann]

    [Player: Chris Clarke]

    [Player: Aaron Falzon]

    [Player: Edrice Adebayo] 2016

    [Player: Khalea Turner] 2016

    USA Midwest

    [Player: KeVaughn Allen] (Florida commit)

    [Player: Malik Monk] 2016

    [Player: Eric Davis]

    [Player: Jalen Brunson]

    [Player: Luke Kennard] (Duke commit)

    [Player: Charles Matthews] (Kentucky commit)

    [Player: KJ Lawson] (Memphis commit)

    [Player: Dedric Lawson] (Memphis commit)

    [Player: Esa Ahmad]

[Player: Deyonta Davis] (Michigan St. commit)

    [Player: Omari Spellman] 2016

    USA South

[Player: AJ Harris] (Ohio St. commit)

    [Player: Antonio Blakeney]

    [Player: Malik Beasley]

    [Player: Haanif Cheatham]

    [Player: Jaylen Brown]

    [Player: DJ Williams] (Illinois commit)

    [Player: Edward Morrow]

    [Player: Alex Owens] (Providence commit)

    [Player: Noah Dickerson]

[Player: Daniel Giddens] (Ohio St. commit)

    USA West

    [Player: Aaron Holiday] (UCLA commit)

    [Player: DeAaron Fox] 2016

    [Player: King McClure] (Baylor commit)

[Player: Austin Grandstaff] (Ohio St. commit)

    [Player: Matthew McQuaid]

    [Player: Dejounte Murray] (Washington commit)

    [Player: DJ Hogg]

    [Player: Marques Bolden] 2016

    [Player: Stephen Zimmerman]

    [Player: Tyler Davis]

Here are the International names I have heard or seen before:

    PF [Player: Lucas Teadoro], Brazil

    PG [Player: Munis Tutu], Canada

CG [Player: Lindell Wigginton], Canada (headed to Oak Hill, 2017 who might be youngest player for Canada ever the event. Yes, younger than Wiggins was his first NGC)

CG [Player: Jalen Poyser], Canada (Had a strong adidas Nations, according to reports)

C [Player: Jabari Craig], Canada (Was a USC commit, word was he did not qualify. Not sure about his future plans at this point. Will try to ask when I see him, have seen him around a few times this summer. Certainly has some athleticism, size and decent shooting mechanics)

C [Player: Kyle Alexander], Canada (Raw, though their is upside. Skinny, athletic, moves well given his size. Reportedly has a 7’4 wingspan)

C [Player: Jordy Tshimanga], Canada (Big man from Quebec, 2016, ESPN put him in their Super 60. Looking forward to seeing him live)

SF [Player: Gao Shang], China (Saw him at the Hoop Summit. Only name I recognized on the roster. Good shooter, has nice size on the wing, guessing he puts up numbers, though he is not on many of the wings in this events level athletically)

CG [Player: Christian Popoola], Nigeria ("Lil’ Pop" plays at Bishop Gorman, 2017)

CF [Player: Ibrahim Doumbia], Mali (Combo forward who plays at Arlington Country Day, 2017)

SF [Player: Joseph Toye], Nigeria (Played at La Lumiere last year, actually heading back to play at the host school, Whitney Young. Vanderbilt commit)

CF [Player: Kassoum Yakwe], Mali (Plays at Our Savior New American in NY with fellow Mali product, Cheick Diallo. For those wondering where Cheick is, he absolutely would have been on this team, though he had back issues and has apparently shut it down for the summer to rest up)

PF [Player: Ted Kapita], Congo (PF who got some positive publicity as of late. Played at a prep in Florida last year, going to Huntington Prep for his senior year. Am told he is one to watch)

PF [Player: Chimezie Metu], Nigeria (USC commit, has spent his HS years in Cali)

C [Player: Abdulhakim Ado], Nigeria (Definitely the player I am most intrigued to see. Heard he has had a fantastic summer and played well against another summer beast, Chase Jeter. 2016, playing in Tennessee)

    Here is the schedule:

Incredibly hyped for Chicago, looking forward to seeing the action on Friday/Saturday and will hopefully have a lot to report back!

This is cool man hope you enjoy yourself. Are there any specific prospects you’re excited about seeing in action?

If you find yourself in the company of dastardly DanEBoy and “jump off” Jersey be careful of the “Waffle House”
