Tristan Thompson Signs with Agent

We received word today from sources close to the situation that Texas bigman Tristan Thompson has signed with an agent and is foregoing his college eligibility. Look for the official announcement to come in the next few weeks.

Thompson is a physical specimen who showcased his tremendous length and defensive ability by shutting down Derrick Williams for much of the Arizona-Texas match up in the round of 32.

The 6’9 freshman is projected by scouts as a likely mid-first round pick in the 12-20 range. His offensive game remains unrefined, but he’s a hard worker and excellent rebounder.

His length and disruptive defensive presence and shot blocking ability combined with his skinny upperbody has drawn comparisons from scouts to former top 10 pick Brandon Wright.

Thomas Robinson to Declare for Draft

Kansas sophomore power forward Thomas Robinson will enter his name in this year’s draft according to sources.

With the Jayhawks still alive in the tourney, look for the announcement to be made after the team’s season ends. Robinson tragically lost his mother during the season and has siblings to look out for.

Despite being a little undersized at 6-8 and having played behind the Morris Twins, he’s seen as a potential late first round pick as he’s an ultra strong and athletic post player with a long wingspan.

Jared Sullinger Likely Staying at Ohio State

Sullinger made what appeared to be a rash announcement yesterday following the Buckeyes loss to UK, saying he was a man of his word and had decided he would return to Ohio State to help them win a National Title next year.

Normally this type of statement would be highly skeptical considering the timing, but the fact that there has been speculation surrounding Sullinger about this for the past several weeks, if the Buckeyes lost, makes this highly plausible.

He could always change his mind and decide giving up a chance to be a top 5 pick is too risky, but at this point it appears that he will indeed return to school for his sophomore year.

If this holds true, Sullinger deserves a lot of credit for turning down the money and considering the lockout, looking out for his long term development by choosing basketball over sitting.
