Lotto StudParticipantOkay so the Spurs are in talks to ship Parker for either Toronto or Sacramento’s Lotto pick, but which direction do they go if they acquire it………
- For starter if they do get rid of Parker they do not want to take a step backwards to snatch up a PG when they have Hill & Neal.
- The 2 spot could be upgraded because all they have is Ginobili & Anderson who they took in the 1st last year, so that would not be an option to reach on a guy that high as a 2 when the value is not there.
- I say they will target Vesely more then likely at the 3 spot. They are aging in the frontcourt, well all over, but are pretty much set with the bigs. If they take Vesely he will play either the 3 or 4 spot. Richard Jefferson is 31 & who knows how much longer can he continue to play at a high level.

SwatLakeCityParticipantHere’s what I’m thinking.
#1 Kanter, but doubt Kanter gets past the 4th pick
#2 Brandon Knight, again doubt it since Jazz are extremely high on him and will likely take him at 3.
#3 Kemba Walker. Trading Parker means you need a PG back. Walker may be the best replacement to Parker.
#4 Jonas Valanciunas. The Spurs have had sucess with international picks before. Why not try your luck on this potential phenom?
#5 Jan Vesely. See reason for Valanciunas

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t think they’d take a point. Neal and Hill are pop favorites.

Lotto StudParticipantWhy take a PG when neither that’s available will be as productive as Hill or Neal & it’s a** backwards to get rid of Parker to create a log jam, when no draft prospect at the PG spoit is better then Parker. Pop has his eyes on the prize which is Vesely.

Lotto StudParticipantAnother thing is the Spurs will not pull the trigger on the deal, until they are sure their guy will be at the spot come draft time.

TheBigEasyParticipantIn my opinion the 2 spot is the only spot at the spurs that’s loaded. Neal, Hill, Ginobili and Anderson are either natural 2 guards or combo guards, but none of them are pure points. As you could see when witnessing the Spurs games when Parker was out, Ginobili was the primary ball handler and not Hill. Hill hasn’t convinced me that he has what it takes to be a good point in this league. And that’s the reason that I don’t see Parker get traded unless they can unload Jefferson in a package deal. A deal with Toronto in a package including Calderon or Bayless and Ed Davis + the first round draft pick would I love to see, though I question if Toronto will do this.
If they pull that of, then I see them pursuing Vesely and going to get Shelvin Mack on board (they have him do three workouts with them, I am not a big fan but it seems that the FO is interested). Or maybe Valanciunas but I don’t see that happening, cuz why trade Parker for someone who will not be around this year?

SmooveKRYPTParticipantI think the guys they are targeting(in this order) are:
1. Kanter(though it’s highly unlikely he slips past 4)
2. Vesley
3. Jonas
If they settle on a deal with TOR then they should have their pick between Vesley & Jonas. If they reach an agreement with SAC, there’s chance both guys are off the board when #7 comes around and they back out.

cward23ParticipantAnother rumor(hoopsworld) is they are trying to convince the Cavs to trade the first pick for Parker. Doubt that it happens though

OhCanada-ParticipantAt least they are making a legit attempt for Kanter..Oh well looks like it wont happen. They will likely trade the Kings for a base of Casspi and the 7th (Valanciunas or Vesely) pick for Parker. I really do not think they are targetting anyone but Valanciunas. This may tempt Toronto to select Jonas and hold out on San Antonio.

cward23ParticipantShould be a interesting draft. Teams telling reporters who they like but in reality they like someone else more but don’t want someone to pick that player then try to trade that player for more players

PulseGlazerParticipantThat’s every year. The draft is a high stakes poker game. You don’t just come out and reveal your hand.
