Player of the Week
Chucky Hepburn, Louisville
The Wisconsin transfer has been a major addition for the Cardinals. The squad has been one of the top teams in the conference and has played their way into the madness in March. Hepburn led the way this past week though, against Virginia Tech he put up 15 points, 6 assists and 2 steals. Against Pittsburgh he put up a career high 37 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Hepburn is getting hot and if continues to play at this level the black and red could go deep into March.
Freshman of the Week
Isaiah Evans, Duke
One of the highly touted freshmen is starting to flash his potential. He is actually getting some playing time in a deep Duke rotation. Evans ended his four game streak of having over 15 points in a game. This week that tailed off but so did his minutes. He tallied 8 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist. While those stats don’t jump off the page, the freshman has shown potential to be a promising player, both at the college level and eventually in the NBA.
Who’s Hot
North Carolina Tar Heels
The Tar Heels have flipped a switch as of late. The squad is on a six-game winning streak and are playing their way to the top of the conference. The blue and white are currently fifth in the ACC and have the second highest scoring offense scoring 82.1 points per game. The squad is paving its way to compete for an ACC championship this season.
Louisville Cardinals
The Cardinals have been on a tear this season. The squad is currently on a seven-game win streak and don’t show any signs of stopping. They have the fourth best offense and fifth best in the conference. The black and red are flying their way to the top of the conference and could be a team to watch for in March.
Who’s Cold
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles have had an up and down season but in the most crucial time of the season they have been slipping down the standings. The squad is on a four-game losing streak with the ACC tournament right around the corner. If they want to have a chance in the ACC tournament they need to start a win streak.
Miami Hurricanes
Miami has been the worst team in the conference for the entire season. They are on a six-game losing streak. They need a complete rehaul of the team and coaching staff to be at least competitive next season.
Bottom 5 Teams in the ACC
1. MIami Hurricanes
They are the worst team in the ACC and have six total wins. This is pretty self explanatory.
2. North Carolina State Wolfpack
The Wolfpack will not have the chance to recreate their Cinderella run like they did last season. The squad struggled this season.
3. Boston College Eagles
The Eagles are a younger team and have shown promise in the later part of the season. They could be a team to watch out for next season.
4. Syracuse Orange
The Orange are another team that could be a team to watch next season. They have a few good recruits coming in and could be a solid team next year.
5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The FIghting Irish are near the bottom of the conference…again. The squad does have a bright future and could compete next season.
