thaprodigyParticipantI think if the Hornets don’t get CP3 some help and make the playoffs which I think they won’t CP3 will demand a trade
If you agree which teams do you guys think have the peices to trade for him0 - Posted on: Sun, 11/08/2009 - 7:48am #227760

JNixonParticipantI think the Hawks should look to make this deal if they could: Maybe something like Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague/Mike Bibby and 2 future 1st rounders.

QHaynes20Call me crazy but
LA Lakers trade 2 Future 1st rounders, Shannon Brown, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and Cash
New Orleans trades Chris Paul

JNixonParticipantGiving up Bynum would be doing too much.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… I’m going to call you crazy alright. Bynum, Odom, Brown, two first rounders and cash for Paul? That’s too much for the Lakers to give up, especially considering they don’t need an elite point guard like Paul to run the triangle.

sportsjunkyParticipantWhich team has the most ridiculous player contracts that will come off the books at years end? Which team has a coach that would cater extremely well to CP3’s style? Which team would still have cap room and be willing to pay the luxury tax to add another top tier player??? The New York Knicks of course!!! Each day it seems more and more unlikely that they will draw LBJ to the big apple, and donnie walsh/the fans are clamoring for a marquee player. Welcome the top point guard in the game arguably, highly marketable, would THRIVE in the 7 seconds or less offense that D’antoni runs, I believe roughly 9 of their player contracts come off the cap at years end all unrestricted!!!! Add another piece like a chris bosh or reunite joe johnson with D’antoni. It’s a long shot but they have the most cap and the biggest media market hasn’t had a true star since Ewing (who wasn’t endorsable).

llperezsportsjunky-do you honestly think the Hornets would dump Paul for expiring contracts like he is some chump? What would the knicks give NO for one of the top 5 players in the nba who is still young and getting better? And Jordan Hill is not the answer.

sportsjunkyParticipantJoe Dumars did it with Chauncey Billups, picked up AI’s 21 mil contract that was expiring, and gave up on the pistons immediate future early in the year last year. He had ZERO intentions of using Iverson in the future. Plus the pistons have been tops in attendance for years, the hornets are slowly becoming the sonics…errr thunder. Cheap owner, low attendance, etc. Personally i don’t want to see it happen, but the post asked who could package together a deal and the knicks theoretically could.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantNew Orleans could use some expiring contracts. Peja and Morris Peterson’s contracts are killing them, and they have an owner in George Shinn who is notoriously cheap. The Knicks might not be the best destination, but the possibility can’t be ruled out all together. There have been some pretty dumb trades in recent years. Remember the Pau Gasol deal?

gcb3ParticipantDevin Harris, Unprotected 2010 Nets 1st round pick (from Mavs) and an expiring contracts for Chris Paul.
See Chris Paul is hard to trade this season because he has something called base year compensation since he has signed an extension onto his rookie contract. But if Chris Paul needs to relocate the Hornets would atleast be getting a similarly talented all-star point guard in return–but for alot less money.
Chris Paul’s contract for next three years: 13.5 million, 15 million, and 16.5 million.
Devin Harris’ contract for the next three years: 8.5 million, 9 million, and 9 million.New Orleans is strapped for money so saving tons of money in luxury tax dollars for a slightly less stellar point guard might be something they would consider. New Jersey would have an amazing talent in Chris Paul and + 19 million in 2010 to spend on other free agents. Most importantly the new owner seems to be willing to spend!
Even after the Nets trade the Mavs first round pick the Nets would still have their own first round pick (lottery), the Warriors first round pick, and their own second round pick. (unlike the NY Knicks who dont even have a first round pick next year)
I know this is far from likely to happen but how sick would this team be ? (And yes i know i put Lebron at the four; but honestly he would be even more unstoppable there):
Chris Paul, Kemba Walker, Keyon Dooling
Chris Douglas-Roberts, Courtney Lee
Terrence Williams, Eduardo Najera
Lebron James, Yi Jianlian
Brook Lopez, Cole Aldrich0 - Posted on: Sun, 11/08/2009 - 2:45pm #227867
td8118Participanthaha thats a little bit of a stretch…they get Lebron and they draft kemba walker and Cole Aldrich

llpereztotally different situation. The pistons were looking to rebuild and Chauncey was an older player. CP3 is young and is the future of the franchise. You don’t dump an mvp caliber player in his prime for expiring contracts. Heck, minnesota got a young all-star caliber big and a top 10 pick as well as some throw ins for a past his prime KG and people still give the wolves crap for that. If the hornets dumped paul to the KNicks, they better get a lot in return, not just expiring deals.

thaprodigyParticipantMaybe the Blazers don’t need him but I was thinking something like
Blazers Get:
Chris Paul
Hilton Armstrong
Morris PetersonHornets Get:
Steve Blake
Jerryd Bayless
Martell Webster
Joel Pryzbilla
Dante Cunningham and 1or2 1st rounders0 - Posted on: Sun, 11/08/2009 - 4:27pm #227924

llperezcome on guys, were talking about a top 5 player in his prime. Prodigy, the best player on that list is Martell Webster, you really think a bunch of spare parts and guys who are fighting for minutes are gonna land CP3?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 11/08/2009 - 5:52pm #227952

marcusfizer21ParticipantIf the Hawks would trade for Paul, it will be the same as admitting that they should have taken him with the 2nd pick of the 2005 Draft instead of Marvin Williams…
