I think it’s a great move by Chicago. No need to rush and sign him to an extension right now. I seriously doubt any team next summer will offer Thomas a huge deal, so the Bulls will probably be able to sign him for less. Smart business move in my opinion.

Great move by The Bulls…For years it seems that some players have their best year when they’re about to become a free agent…Both Thomas & The Bulls Organization will agree that so far in his career, he’s been a disappointment..But Knowing he has to play well on a nightly basis in order to get a bigger contract.. Thomas should be motivated to play great this season..Chicago made a mistake during the 2006 draft by trading Aldridge for the rights for Thomas…He knows Chicago just drafted not 1 but 2 promising rookies that play his position..And with the best free agent crop in league history..Thomas don’t appear to be 1 of the elite free agents.,,Now he must show whut he can do..IT’S all up to him…..

I don’t like this.  I think the Bulls should’ve signed him now if they could.  They have some good chemistry developing between Rose, Noah, & Tyrus. I wouldn’t want to break that up.  Taj Gibson is NO Tyrus Thomas.  James Johnson is a small forward.  Chicago is going to miss Tyrus if he leaves.

What the Bulls should do is trade Hinrich & Deng.

NOOOOOOOO Gatorheels…Did u see the game last nite gainst the Celtics? They really miss Ben Gordon’s scoring…Trade Thomas for Boozer…He can be replaced…They need Hinrich’s defense and Deng’s scoring….

Yeah I watched the game last night.  Deng didn’t look that impressive.  Tyrus has skills.  He grabs incredible rebounds & blocks crazy shots. Boozer really wouldn’t make the Bulls contenders though.  Sure he could bring some scoring punch but he doesn’t have any upside.  Tyrus hasn’t reached his peak yet. Hinrich is overpaid.

The Bulls have a bunch of solid all around players but what they don’t have is a potent scorer (Ben Gordon).  A lot of people were saying that the Bulls would miss Gordons’ late game clutch shots but I disagreed.  I think the Bulls have alot of players who thrive when the pressure is on late in games.  However, yep the Bulls do miss Gordons’ ability to be a pure scorer not in the 4th quarter but throughout the whole course of a game. I still think the Bulls are a playoff team this season.

thomas need a change of scenery..yes he’s an incredible athlete..but he’s been in the league for 4 years and haven’t put it all together..he reminds me of a young shawn marion..but marion put it together and became an allstar..maybe he should go to a team like golden state or phoenix………..

Really look at this they have such great player:

    Pg: Rose, Hinrich, Hunter, Pargo
    Sg: Salmons
    SF: Deng, Johnson
    PF: Thomas, Gibson
    C: Noah, Miller, James, Gray

looking into that depth chart they really lack at the SG position so they want D-Wade not amare because they have the rookies Johnson and gibson who can play the 4 so Gibson is a monster on the boards and has been scoring and is playing great basketball but you never know because in nba draft 10′ they have great choices in the first round ex: Henry, Bradley, Maybe Stephenson, Aminu, Warren, White, Ebanks etc. if they get that high which i don’t expect maybe the highest they get is 14 and get Warren which is perfect for that team.

isn’t overpaid in my mind, just the organization decided to go a different way. They got Rose and sent Hinrich to the bench and with the contract he has, he seems overpaid now. I may be alone on this particular subject, but this dude averaged around 15 PPG and 6 Ast for like 3 straight years. Then there was the year the Bulls struggled as a team and we saw his production go down with them. THEN D. Rose was drafted and he was put to the bench plus he was injured. He’s making about 9 million a year and under contract for like two more years I think?
He’s a Starter in this league and I think the Bulls should look to trade him now with Rose and Pargo there. They can get some real value for him, just have to find a team in need of a starting Point Guard. He’s on of my fave players to watch. Big fan of Hinrich. One more thing, he’s like 28.

I don’t think Warren would drop to the 14th Pick and Bulls do have great depth, but they need Deng to be the guy they are paying him to be! I’m sick of waiting for him to turn it around. Just had to let that out. 🙂

    to europe basketball,

what u dont realize is that they play a rotation… they will play rose and hinrich at the same time and rotate their backcourt players… they are actually VERY deep in the backcourt as deng can spend time at the 2 gaurd also… although i agree that they will go for wade, they will still probably have room to match an offer for tyrus thomas.. because hes not gonna bank at the end of this season unless hes HUGE… which i doubt he will be

Some argued Tyrus was going to be the best athlete in the NBA.
Deng is overpaid and Hinrich should be moved in a large deal probably later on he still has value.
